We must all be out hanging flowers and cookies on doors, and gathering dew, and leaving gifts for the woods and fair folk...since I didn't see a thread yet for this month.

It finally feels like Spring, and she's already thinking about turning the show over to Summer.

Here's to health and happiness, healing and hope, fair times and fun in this season of the growing sun!

I'm sure it's been said before, but what are May baskets?

My face feels nice, brendon! light and glowy!

We're making mini cookies. And I had some costume wings I bought last fall (on sale after Samhain) and I got them out, and I got out my old set, and we're all running around with wings on.

Good grief ... how many months have I missed here?! I'm a little disappointed that we didn't do May Day baskets this year ... dd#1 and I had so much fun with them last year, but I've been a little busy. Last time I posted on one of the monthly threads, I was expecting. We had our second daughter, Heidi Giselle, on April 14th -- a beautiful UC. We also moved into our new house, which has been one of the most stressful, frustrating things in my life. Thank the Gods we don't ever have to do it again.

Looking forward to a beautiful month and praying for rain ....

I can't do much but I think I'll paint some flowers on DD's cheeks.

They can be just about anything...but usually some sort of basket or container filled with "spring things" like flowers and little treats. You can give them directly to a person, but more often you hang them on a door or put them on a threshold and run away. Sort of a wonderful spring surprise for your friends and neighbors.

When I lived in a dorm (long long ago ) I would hang May Baskets with flowers (and later beer) on my friends' doors. I don't live in an area right now where I can indulge my may basket obsession, but someday...

Till then I'll probably just hang baskets on my little one's chairs. I put DH's on the steering wheel of the car this morning....

I wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone. Congratulations to heathenmom for her new babe and house, how exciting!

I've been through a huge spiritual transformation and I'm still figuring it out, but I seem to have moved from hard polythiesm to all are one with many brilliant and unique prisms.

Happy Beltaine to those that celebrate it and great timing with a full moon tomorrow it should be very bright tonight, provided there are clear skys.

We just had spring arrive and I reserve summer for Solstice but it is in the 90's this week so I guess that is a good hint of summer being on it's way. Just this week I listened to Now Welcom Somer by the Medieval Baebes and it seems a perfect song for this time of year.

Too bad dh back is still out of whack or I'd be planning some merry making for tonight to celebrate.

I can't believe I posted under the April thread today. Duh. Guess I was a tad tired.

We did errands this morning but ds was acting out and I was pulling my hair out so we came back home for a rest.
We'll go to the nature reserve this afternoon.

Heathenmom- Congrats on the birth of your daughter! Do you have her birth story up?

Here's what I posted on the April thread:
This is the time I year that I definitely feel in tune with my body and Beltane. wink wink. It makes it difficult being single during Beltane. Well, not just single...but a single mom. I wouldn't do the things now that I have done years ago. YKWIM?

It's been 4 1/2 yrs (YEARS!) since I've been celebate (by choice). I'll be honest and say that, somehow, I'm going to end that this year. Enough is enough.

Peace,
Hi. I am just starting a sort of spiritual awakening... I have never been a very spiritual person but since the birth of my daughter I've felt more and more connected to a Goddess/Mother energy (for lack of a better word) so I've decided to start exploring that some more.

If you all don't mind, I'd like to hang out in this thread and get an idea of what you all do to honour the Goddess/Mother...

I have always considered myself a pretty hardcore pragmatic atheist so I'm just taking baby steps away from that... yesterday I asked the Mother - out loud! - to bless my garden and it felt surprisingly good. Before when I participated in other people's religious ceremonies I always felt really fake and uncomfortable, but that felt right.

Beltane kind of snuck up on me so I didn't have anything prepared and I slept in so no morning dew for me, but I did wear my prettiest shirt to work today

Happy Beltane everyone!!

heathenmom ~ congrats on the new baby and the new house! I bet even after all the stress it feels good to be moved though.

My plans for the day are to get a whole lot of work done! Dustin has his first camping event of the year this weekend so there's a lot to be done. I'm painting his sign right now (I'll take pictures after it's dry). Hopefully after the kids are all in bed I can talk him into some Beltane fun though

Happy May everyone!!

I started the day way too early (6:30 am is like unheard of for me lol) for jury duty. Fun.

Now I am home waiting for my Dh to show up. It's an overcast but kind of warm day here. It smells so nice outside. So earthy.

I'm sad. As I was getting ds dressed to go to the park, my belly was feeling upset. I tried to ignore it. We had just stepped out the door....when I got that familiar feeling and had to rush back in to the bathroom. Ugh. I had to sit on the toilet for some time. Poor ds was crying because I was feeling sick. I just don't think I should attempt going to the park. I need to be near a toilet, I do believe. I feel so bad for ds. He was looking forward to our outing. We were going to look for a stick (preferably Ash) so that he could make his very own (harry potter) wand. I don't want to look near our yard for a stick because I dispise this place and I don't want that energy (or the chemicals) in the stick.
Tomorrow is going to rain.

Happy Beltane! I woke up much too late for dew, but it's supposed to rain later today, LOL. DD and I spent a couple hours outside working in the flower beds, blowing bubbles, and playing in the sandbox. I also hung laundry on the line for the first time in ages, and it was surprisingly soothing. My little brother called me last night and invited me to his track meet this evening, so I'll head over when DH gets home from work. I really want to take a walk under the full moon tonight, but it's supposed to be cloudy and rainy. Guess I'll have to console myself with DH, LOL.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I am really wanting a private place for an alter for myself, and I'll also put up my special spiritual treasure map I made, but I feel like there is no place in my house to put it where other people besides my family will not see it. Even my bedroom gets traffic I don't really want to take it into the closet either Does anyone have any ideas for me? Where is your alter?

i really am not good at participating in this thread. i just cant come often enough, and spend enough time to really "feel" it....
but i had to come today and "be" with you all.... i can NOT believe that once again, i am so out of tune, i very nearly spaced out and missed this blessed time! it's about to storm.... maybe i'll wake the babe up and we'll go dance in the garden.

sending you all may day poles, baskets, and other delights!

saphire-- i keep my TM on top of a shelf in my room... each morning DS makes me take it down, put it on the bed, so he can laugh and clap in front of it... my alter, such as it is at the moment, is a corner of my shelf where my clothes, some pictures, a stuffed dragon, and my angel cards are.... make your space where you can claim it...

ode-- poor momma! hmmm.... would having a cleansing ceremony for the stick not be effective enough, do you think?

have a wonderful month, mommas!

I'm so thrilled! I just ran down to the ground floor to drop my rent check off at the office before they closed. In the elevator, there was a woman and she started 'chatting' with ds. She was saying how she likes his eyepatch. I thought that was really sweet what she was doing.
Then, she mentioned that he was 'full of beans' today and that was great because today is May Day.
So, I decided to test the waters and said "Yes, we are excited that it's Beltane". She didn't miss a beat and said she just got finished sending Beltane ecards to everyone!
When we got off the elevator, I asked her outright if she was pagan and she said YES!
Before I went into the office, she went to give me a hug saying "Blessed Be". She gave ds a hug too and ds said "Blessed Be! Byeeee!".

It was so awesome, it made me teary eyed.

I really can't stand the place that I live in. I don't want any memories of it when I leave here. Ds will wait. He's aready forgotten about it for now.
