DS is 4.5 months old... when can I do a hip carry? Neck control is pretty good... I just fugured out how to put him in so he's sitting up but across by body (w/ back of head to rings), not facing straight out... I felt like he was leaning forward too much that way. Anyway, we're getting used to the one position we're using, but seems like it might be easier to put him on my hip.

Thoughts?
Thanks~

My son is not quite 3 months yet and we've been doing the hip carry in the Maya wrap for a while now. I just keep the upper rail at his neck to help with support and I usually give him one arm out so he's got some freedom. We use this position the most because he hates his feet being restricted. I also tuck the tail up and around the rings (which usually ends up close to his face) to offer more support and to buffer the rings from him.
This is my favorite position by far because I have a better view of my feet than when he is completely in front of me.

Also, if he doesn't like it at this age, don't give up forever... some kiddos will take to a hip carry at 3 montsh and others don't "get it" until closer to 10 months old, it really depends on the kid. And the mom. I did hip carries all the time with dd1...and with larger chest issues with dd2, I don't do hip carries as much because my front gets in the way and I prefer baby centered.
