Hi everyone,
Is anyone interested in getting together in the near future? I know we're scattered throughout the state, but is there a central location where people would want to travel? I'm in SE FL. I don't know the state well enough to make suggestions. Anyone else? Also, suggest a date if you have a good idea. Thanks. Hope y'all are well.

Hmmm, where exactly are you, Kelly? I guess we are more in the middle of the state on the west coast. I'll do a search & see if I can find the old thread, then PM everyone from there. Then we can open up a map & find a semi-central location.

Thank god i found this. My family (myself,14month old, husband are relocating from maine. My son and i will be arriving somewhere in the 2nd week of nov. I would like to get any info on a good family practioner and any mommy and me type groups to welcome us. We know noone and nothing and will be there for 15 months. please help. Any suggestions would be a big help. Thanks

OK--so November 8th it is. I am in Coconut Creek, (NW Broward County). We've heard from Sarasota and the Keys. I have not lived here long enough to suggest a central location. Any suggestions?

hey everybody! thanks for pulling me back in the loop, carolyn....and not a moment too soon! keep your fingers and toes crossed, but i might be writing tomorrow or wednesday with WONDERFUL news...

i'm four days late!!!!! i took my first pee test, and there was a FAINT pink line (fact plus...anyone tried it?)...so i'm supposed to test again in 48 hours, but i doubt i'll be able to wait once i get home tonight!!!!!!!

anyway, i'd love to get together with you all! the weekend of the 8th is my birthday and my mom and sister (also an MDC-er) will be in sarasota visiting...but i could pop over if it's here...if not, any other weekend i'll try my best to make it!

Good luck, Bandana! I just took one this morning that came back negative -- that's probably good since we weren't planning to add on QUITE yet! :LOL Keep us posted! When I got preggo with Ian I put the test down on the counter upside down and the line was sooooo faint -- I had to wait until the next day to try again! 24 whole hours!! :LOL

It looks like we have: Broward County, the Keys, Sarasota, Orlando, Gainsville, & Orange City.

Well, the bad news is -- FL is a BIG state & we are ALL OVER! If 3 hours isn't too far for some people, then we're okay!

My suggestion is over by Lake Kissimmee -- east of that right by the Florida Turnpike. There is a place on the map called Lake Marian Highlands. It's the county west of Brevard. I have never been there & don't know what it has to offer, but it's the most centrally located place I could find. According to yahoo, it is just over or under 3 hours from Gainesville, Sarasota, & the Keys (I used Plantation). I think every one else is within that "triangle."

So that's my best guess -- anyone else? What do ya'll think?

this place is right near the lake. i know some wanted a pool or ocean, but that would make some people's drive 4 + hours.

i am going to call the # & see what is what.

eda: Okay, that was a RV park type place. The lady was really nice, though

If anyone RV's I'd recommend it just cause! They have little motel efficiencies & we could stay a night or two & use their gathering areas/facilities. But the Nov. 8 weekend is booked -- so we'd have to do the one before or after. The website is here if anyone wants to look.

I also found a State park that's open 8am - sunset. It's Lake Kissimmee State Park. I'm going to keep looking, but if anyone has any knowledge of this area...

I have been to Lake Kissimmee State Park. It's a pretty nice place. You can camp there. It's kinda off the main roads though. There is also Hillsbourgh River State Park west of Tampa, right off I4. It's a nice place where you can camp. They have canoeing and a pool too. Either place isn't too far to drive for us.
