Hello everyone! I have to read the other thread in full...there are 5 pages, and I feel really out of the loop!

I ran my 10 km race on Saturday. I'm thrilled, and relieved to say I finished, and was not last. My average was 7mins40secs per km...I finished at 72mins:45secs.

My husband and I are doing 1/2 Marathon relay in two wks, so we are training for that.
My goals this week are 4 5km runs, with hills, and 1 8 km run.
Lots of biking!

Happy Trails,

the plan for this week:
monday - maybe a run if the rain/wind/sleet mix lets up
tuesday - lake run (route down by the lake)
wednesday - in minneapolis running my samples
thursday- in minneapolis running my samples
friday - Lakewalk run (3 miles) -- different than the tuesday route
saturday - long run 45 minutes

Last week i ran a lot at the beginning of the week and my legs were too tired. I think breastfeeding slows down my recovery process, as in my body is putting the extra energy towards making the tiny amount of milk it is still making and it takes me a long time to recover.

Summer half-marathon training: absolutely do it. You can run at night or early morning and unless you are in texas or someplace like that, its not that bad.

Thistle --- saw her posting in TAO. Maybe PM her?

Jen let us know how the run/walk went today!

In in Northern Ontario Canada. It does get really humid here. But yeah, my plan was to train early or late evening.
I will start the training, and see where it takes me.
Dh and I are doing a 1/2 Marathon relay on June 13th, I hope I have recovered by then. My legs are really sore. I didn't stretch properly after the race on Saturday. I was too 'high' and couldn't believe I did it....I hope I'm not being...uh..reckless by doing this 1/2 Marathon...but dh is so excited!!! (I'll have to make him a banner too...lil sweetie) He turns 40 tomorrow, I know it means a lot to him...
PMing Thistle now....

Thanks, SS, for sharing the photos. They were awesome!!

The wedding was a blast. My calf muscles hurt from dancing!

It really sounds like everyone is out there putting one foot in front of the other. I have been so anxious to run (dh out-of-town and then the friend's wedding). I am getting out there today. Dh is cycling during dc's naps. I will run after that. I plan to make this my long run for the week, but since I haven't run in so long. . .we'll see.

My week: 40 push ups, crunches, obliques, leg flutters, Pilates everyday. Run 4x's for at least 30 minutes. Dh is traveling so we'll see what I can pull off with the dc.

Keep up the great work, all!

Way to go ss!!! Congrats on your first race!

Goals for the week: Mon--5 miles (done!), Wed--an hour with my SIL, Thurs--45 min, Sat or Sun--5 miles. Crazy because we're travelling to Florida and then immediately to Alabama for a conference! But I'm bringing my running shoes and of course the enell everywhere so I won't have any excuses.

Thistle--I hope you feel better and the heat doesn't slow you down too much. It's pretty nasty down here too.

Forgot to add that I did 10 miles again on Saturday and it was great! My legs felt a lot better than last week, and I brought Gatorade which made a huge difference.

have a great week everybody....I'll try to check in from the ILs but not sure. Take care.
Peace.

Mamabeth -- have a great trip!

Thistle -- Thanks for checking in. I hope you're feeling better soon. You, SamSoleil and Schatz all disappeared and I was starting to wonder if my internet BO was that bad. I'll wait to shower before reporting on my next run.

I ran 5.7 miles in 59 minutes yesterday. So, as long as it's perfectly flat and I'm not pushing a jogging stroller, I'm almost running a 10 minute mile. I'm planning my 3.5 mile "hill" route today (with jogging stroller). I figure it will take 45 minutes...

Wow Geo, that's great!!! I did a little over 11minute mile in my race. I'm just stoked to have finished it. But dh and I are going to train this wk, and I'm gonna try to shave a few minutes off my time!
Thistle, so glad you made it back! Get back into it, it's hard at first, but then you remember how good it feels.
Where is Schatz btw?
Mamabeth~You are so rocking the running train! I can't believe you ran 10 miles! You go mama!!!!

I really wish there was a running smily.
I may run on a treadmill today, or I'll brave the rain...but either way, I'm doing a 6k run today!

Happy trails.
Right here can't you see me?

ha ha

I don't generally go on-line from home and yesterday was memorial day in the US so I wasn't at work (legal holiday for me).

I have been such a slug lately -- I just can't get up in the morning anymore. I actually have been thinking my system is suffering from a yeast overgrowth. I have been craving sugar and giving in to the craving and have a few other signs that having me thinking I'm a bit out of whack. I battled yeast last spring/summer too so I just need to change my diet and get out my arsenal of supplements. It's either that or I'm just being super duper lazy.

Those in the midwest know what crappy weather we had this past weekend - where is the raining smilie? But, I just finished pumping here at work and I'm going to take a long lunch and go for a run.

SS -- great race!!! Loved the pics and what a sweet family you have to make you a banner.

What's with all these mamas that can 'oh so casually' run 10 miles???? I'm trying to work up to that by late July - yeesh. Just paint me green with envy, that's all.

I'm off to starting sweating....

SS, Great job on your race! That is awesome! I'm so inspired! I can't believe you just started running 3 months ago....well, actually I can believe it, it is just impressive!

Mb, wow, another 10 mile mama! That's great

Geo-good job getting out there and doing it! I'm curious what my times would be like w/0ut the stroller, I always run w/dd. I do convince myself that I'm not doing all the work though, because I tie my dog to the stroller, and then I feel like she is pulling me

Schatz, we are having the same crappy weather here in Maine , I didn't get runs in on Sun, or Mon, but did get one in this morning before the rain started back up.

e &e mama, I am jealous that your calf muscles are sore from dancing :LOL

Thistle, you can do it!

(I think I covered everyone)
So, my goals for this week are 4-5 runs . I'm running 9 min/walk 1 X 3
I got a run in this morning before the rain started (I think I already mentioned that) We had a calf born last night , newborns are so sweet!

Run, mamas, run! And I definitely agree, we soooo need a running mama smiley!

Well, I'm back from my run. It felt great! I ran 58 minutes and I figure that's about 5.6 miles (maybe 5.8 but I was pretty slow in the middle due to a side ache). I have come to the conclusion that I need new shoes. Going to a great shoe store tomorrow with my mom - hopefully there will be a pair in the bargain room in my size.

It's hard to know for me. I used to have my bike computer hooked up to the jogging stroller, but the odometer feature crapped out a year ago, and now the whole thing is dead. So.... I've now driven my route in my neighborhood, so I know I do my 5.9 mile route in 65-68 minutes: a 11.5 minute mile. The park by the river has mile markings, and DH timed me yesterday at a little more than 10 min/mile. However, I've never run at the park with DD and I've only run in my neighborhood without the stroller once or twice. The park is totally flat, and I've chosen my neighborhood route so that I go up two longish hills (0.25 mile each -- that's the best you can do around here...). The difference could just as easily be the hills as it is the jogging stroller.

2 mile run today. into a stiff headwind. I was running like crazy just to make headway -- so the 3 miler became a 2 miler.

I think i must be really dehyrdated. I'm sore from that run. I'm having a hard time drinking anything without sharing it. And when i share I get loads of backwash in my glass. cracker crumbs and all. eeewww.

Glad to see everyone is back in the fold. I hope that everyone gets and stays healthy!

missbliss--A calf born! Soooo cool!

So yesterday I did five 10-minute miles and I didn't even know I was doing it! I need to get a watch but I checked the time on the clock in the car when I left the driveway and returned. I ran an old route dh and I ran together in the past and when I was stretching he reminded me that it is five miles. Wheee! I am still warm from the 3 miles I just ran so I must go stretch. I had to share the fun news though!

I was so surprised that 5 felt so great! (I could have ran longer, but the fam was waiting to go to eat.) So dh and I with the dc in the stroller are going to do a local 10k in two weeks. Fun! My first 10k. He will be pushing the boys so it may be somewhat of an equilizer. (I wish!)

Off to stretch!

So sun I did the monster run, and then sunday night came down with a monster bug! I was up all night throwing up every hour on the hour. Monday I couldn't move, eat, nothin'. Tuesday I could move, but slowly and carefully. Today much better. I went on a slow jog, 35 minutes. It felt good and I'm hungry for the first time in three days!!!

BBM-- I hope you feel better soon. Ick.

E&E -- Wow, that's great progress! Have fun in the 10k.

Kerc -- Running in the wind is no fun. Sounds like it would have been enough to keep me home.

Actually, it was thunderstorms that kept me home yesterday. I biked home from work through the worst of it and I just couldn't face getting soggy again. Weather report for today looks better.

Seems like a lot of running mamas are coming down with bugs. Should we sanitize our thread?
