Hey Ethical Eaters,
I'm a vegetarian, moderate use of dairy and eggs, organic and free-range only at home. 8 years and counting.
Have a 15 week old baby, so I'm not cooking for kids yet. I do feel confident in my diet for pregnancy and breastfeeding. My happy little dear was born (at home in water) at 7 lbs 12oz, and now weighs 16lb, 26 inches long. Whoa! I know a petite baby would be a healthy one too, since I feed on demand (of coarse), but feel vindicated since she is large, since I live in an area where there are few like me...and no one thinks I'm getting enough protein. I'm pretty sure they worry most about protein because it's the only nutrient they know the name of. I always like to reply 'Are you getting enough omega 3 essential fatty acids', just to see the blank looks.
Would love to see a veggie tribe and have cool mamas to brainstorm with as baby grows and I enjoy the new experience of feeding a kid.
Love you all for making this powerful choice.
hey, mama. There is a veg thread on this list somewhere that you have got to find. Everyone is so cool and accepting. I think that's something that comes along with becoming a mother--judgement on others goes out the window! YAY! Try typing veg into the search and see if it comes up. Congrats on your sweet baby and h20 birth. I am currently 11 weeks pg. with my 3rd and can't wait to give birth again! I feel I was made for it (birthing and mothering)! We have the same diet as you it seems. I'm pretty hardcore organic and it makes it hard sometimes when you're on the go w/kids, but I know it's the best I can do for them, so I'm gonna keep on keepin' on! Have a great day!
