Hello! I am part-time student looking for meal ideas. I gone for school from 4:30-10:15 two nights each week, which means that I completely miss supper. Most of my classmates rely on the vending machines (admittedly, if I do not have time to bring something along, I must do the same thing.) Sandwiches and fast food are getting old. Does anyone have any suggestions for "real" food that I can take to school? I do not have access to a fridge, but I can use a microwave. Can't be too messy or loud or anything because I will be eating during class.

Surely someone out there has some ideas for me. I am just no good at thinking up new things!

How about some pita sandwiches stuffed with hummus, roasted red peppers, and sprouts? Or maybe falafel?

Or pitas with veggie burgers (pre-cooked)?

Or if you don't like pitas, then tortillas make great roll-ups/wraps - maybe some refried beans, guacamole, and chopped up bell peppers?

Cooked baby carrots make great finger food, and aren't noisy like raw carrots.

How about hot soup in a thermos that you can drink?

OK, my creative juices aren't flowing right now, but I'm sure you'll get some great ideas from the mamas here.

If your looking for healthy whole well balanced foods, I'd check out your local whole foods market. Ours here has been stocking a wide range of convienence foods, eventhough you don't have access to a fridge I found that I love their frozen stuffed calzones, and until dinner time, it gives a little time to thaw, that way when its time to eat it only takes a few mins to heat them up. Its also something you can make ahead at home & freeze, then heat up at school. I can't remember what the name of the cookbook is, but there is a whole cookbook of how to make your own frozen foods like this. I used to do this a lot when I was working outside the home.
