I was reading WebMD at the drs office. There was an article about a service that reviews medical bills from the hospital for mistakes. It said they always finds mistakes in the bills. They had an example of one guy who had no insurance who was billed 1,049 for a tooth brush and another guy who had $39,000 bill and actually only owed $6,000. So do you think this would be worth doing if you had health insurance? The service is $$$ but I think requesting an itemized bill might be a good idea.

Since we pay between 20% and 40%, we always review itemized bills. We found quite a few "routine" charges for a recent stay that did not apply to us.

I have heard of insurance companies offering some cash incentives if you do find mistakes too. I need to find out if mine does.
