would produce a deficit of $348 billion in 2007 and deficits totaling more than $1 trillion through 2011 if Congress enacts its policies.
Anyone able to tell those of us not well-versed in this stuff, what this means?

The Republicans are VERY worried about the upcoming midterm election. They could conceivably lose control of the House. So to caress their base and also pretend that they are "independent" of GW, they restoring cuts that GW proposed in the budget that could prove unpopular.

But don't believe a word of it. They want to get re-elected. If they are, and if the Republicans stay in the majority in the House, it will be business as usual again and they can roll all this stuff back later.
Thank you. I understand about the re-election stuff, but was wondering what it all means for us average everyday citizens, kwim?

Is is going to mean more people living in poverty?
More wars?
More sick children?

What exactly are they hoping to accomplish for the American people? Do they even care?
Sure they care- about themselves and their cronies.
