It would depend on what her interests are and the ages of her children. Does she homeschool? She could join a hs support group or co op to meet new people. Check newspapers, community papers, and grocery store BB to see what is availible in the area. Network: When she meets someone she likes with children of similar ages she should ask what's fun to do in the area.

Girl Scouting is based on excellent values and is a really fun, enriching program--for girls 5-17 years old, if she has any, or for her as an adult volunteer, if she has time. The moms I have met through Girl Scouts are all breastfeeders and co-sleepers
but I'm sure that varies from place to place....

If she belongs to any organized religion or is willing to join one, a religious congregation is a great place to meet people.

Of course, there are the Finding Your Tribe forums for geographic areas on these boards.

Hey, I wanted to come back and let everyone know that my sister ended up finding this site FriendsForFamilies.com. She sent me the link and my husband and I have now joined also. It's basically a match.com for families!!! I wish I had this when I moved from California to Atlanta a couple of years ago. They're pushing hard to get lots of members fast so we got a full year for $2. Anyway, I wanted to post this so everyone else could take a peek.

Hey Everyone,

To celebrate their first 30 days, they sent out this promo code to all their current members today to try to build up their numbers very fast. I signed up several weeks ago so I got this (but I had to pay $20). They told us to send it to everyone we know so I thought I would stick it up here on the board. The code doesn't last but a couple of weeks so if you're interested, hurry up!

The promo code is for a one year free membership. All you do is enter 99113 in the promotional code area on the member signup page.

I think I will sign up. Even though I live on the coast in California, in a town of 50,000, there is no LLL, no Unitarian Universalist congregation, no natural foods stores, no kids second hand stores, no attachement parenting groups, and while there are probably playgroups that I don't know about, I work during the day when most of these playgroups happen. We did do gymnastics for a year, but the parents were pretty clique-y and I'm kinda shy, plus it was the Saturday class so it was all dads and me. I have high hopes for ds's new Montessori school.

ETA: did it work for you guys? There were no families within 100 miles of us! I hope it grows!
