Hi mamas!

So, little Aiden at 8 weeks isn't so little anymore! I love carrying him in the KKAFP but I only have one and I cannot use the Bjorn for any length of time. I have an Ergo but reserve that for long walks, etc. because it's kind of cumbersome. Baby loves to be upright and facing me. He does NOT like to lie down in a carrier, even while asleep. He's about 12 lbs. or so, possibly more even. He's also quite long, was 22 3/4 inches at his one month checkup and he's definitely longer now.

I need a Mei Tai. I have no idea what to get. There are so many out there! I'm thinking the Babyhawk because I love the looks of it and the soft lining you can put in. But how the heck do you know what the differences are between the carriers and which to get? I don't have a lot of $$ to spend trying stuff out!

Help!

Since he's so young you'll want one that can go high enough to go up behind his head to support it from falling back. The Kozy and Sachi and Angelpack are good for this. I've seen the Babyhawk and thought these were shorter bodied but not positive.
Check some of the above reviews and look at a few websites to get an idea of how a younger baby looks in them and that may help you decide.

have you checked www.thebabywearer.com? they have lots of good reviews.
our kozy was perfect at that age (you could probably find one on the FSOT board for less $$ than ordering new). we use our kozy every single day, usually for both boys (2.5 and 4 mo) every single day. Yesterday we even did baby in kozy on front, toddler in ergo on back! LOL! Needless to say, we have the kozy love!
(I've heard good things about babyhawk, mei tai baby, and others too, I just met kozy first)

At that age I like the Freehand A LOT!! I got overwhelmed with bigger body MeiTais when DS was little, but LOVED the Freehand!!

BTW - I could get plenty of head support with the Freehand!! Actually, I have seen pics of 18mo babies in a Freehand with head support too! It just depends on how you tie the FH

you can order the babyhaw in XT that s a longer body like the kozy's. Babyhawks are my faovrite right next to the freehands. I just love their fabrics and the comfort.

Wow big boy my3kids! I have a chunka monka too and I love my babyhawk! I don't go any where with out it! My ds is 24lbs now at 6 mo and I can still pack him around like a champ! He hated the sling and also likes to be belly to belly. Good luck finding whats right for you!

I got the one with the old school sailor looking tattoo print, that way my dh doesn't mind wearing too much once in a while. I have a pic of us wearing it here www.freewebs.com/kisagotami Not the best pic but you get the idea!

I took a fleece blankie I had lying around and cut it so it would fit over the straps of my BH and line the inside to keep my chubba warmer, it works well and the blakie doesn't move around because it's secured by the straps.

When my baby was your age, she wouldn't stand to have her legs spread so wide by the mei tais. The only mei tai I could put her in before 4 mo was a "meitai baby" because it has an adjustable drawstring. Once she was a little older, she loved any mei tai, and then it was a matter of what was most comfy for me. If your baby doens't mind having his legs inside a mei tai froggy style, then any mei tai will be fine. But if your baby wants to have his legs out, I recommend starting with a mei tai baby. For your second mei tai , a Kozy or Sachi are great.
