My dd's memory astounds me. I mean, she can go back about a year or more.

The other day my dh picked up an individually wrapped cookie, kind of a ginger bread thing with jelly in the middle, at the grocery store. I couldn't place this cookie, but I knew we had had it once before. I asked dh why we never bought them and where did he find it. I just couldn't place it, but I knew we had had it before.

So we ate it for dessert and my dd says "We had this at the hotel in Moscow!" That's it! Dh had brought some home our first night in Moscow. That was in May or so. Not that far back, but still it was only that one time.

How about your kids?

My son is 4 and has a better memory then me It seems to come out of nowhere, we will be going to bed or eating dinner and he will bring up an event from over a year ago. It amazes me. He tells me how he loved riding in grandpas van, well, grandpa doesn't have a van but he rented one for us to all ride in when we were in Hawaii. He was almost 2 when we went to Hawaii.

A year ago we were in a car accident where a semi moved into our lane and hit us. I was on the phone with insurance and could not remember the colour of the truck, I knew it was a light colour but I kept thinking light blue. When I got off the phone, ds looked up at me and said 'the truck was white mommy' He was right

Oh, yes, it is amazing what little children can remember! My dd will remember details from events that happened when she was only 2 1/2 or so, and she's almost five now.

I wonder if it is because their minds are so uncluttered compared to ours?

my dd who is 6 amazes my dh who has no memory at all which is very scary, but another story. Also my ds who is 2.5 is showing his memory, he will see something on t.v. or at the store and say how a friend he saw 6 months ago has that or he saw that book at dd's school maybe months ago. It amazes me how quickly they can take the visual part and search there brain in nano seconds and connect the visual with the picture in thier head and tell you the exact moment and time they first encountered it.

I also have a ds with an amazing memory. The most amazing was when he was probably almost three we saw a wheel barrow some where (see I don't even remember where we saw it) and he said "remember when you gave me a ride in one like that?" He was only 9 month old when I did that !
