Not sure if it comes from being a busy, working mother of 4 who is almost 42 or if something is amiss but I have noticed some memory problems over the past 6 months. Stuff like I can't remember people's last names that I've known for over 20 years and I can watch a DVD with my husband and the next night forget almost the entire movie or episode. Other little things too and it's starting to worry me.

It seems like I recently read that Ginkgo doesn't work like folks once thought for memory problems. Do you guys know of anything that I can add to my diet to help or at least stop whatever deterioration is going on? I think lack of sleep is a biggie but getting any extra is not going to happen for the next couple of years.

Thanks...

I'm 41 so either it's normal or I need something too. It takes me forever to remember a word sometimes. And I read all the time. I'll get to the 4th or 5th chapter of a book before I suddenly realize that I've already read the book. I have 3 kids so maybe it gets worse with each kid.

Hey - if it's normal I can deal with it! I know what you mean about remembering a word. And ditto on the book...well, the last time I actually had time to read one!

It appears that Ginkgo flower essence works better than the actual herb for memory loss. My DH is currently looking into this.

I can't tell you what is normal or not. I am 44 with a 5 1/2, 3 1/2 and 18 month old. With alot of stress with having a child with special needs and a husband recently diagnosed as Bipolar II. Not only that my Dad died of Alzheimer's, my Mom has Alzheimer's right now and four of my Aunts (my Mom's sisters) have died with Alzheimer's.

Having said that, I am worried as all get out about my memory loss. In fact I have a Doctors appointment with a new Doctor on December 1st. This is one of the things I want to talk to her about.

Hormone changes in perimenopause can cause memory problems, and a whole lot of other symptoms

This article might calm your worries a little bit.
