I have some odd (and kind of gross) questions.

First, how normal is it to get your AF in the early stages of pregnancy?

Second, if you get your cycle in early pregnancy, does it change?

We've started TTC in late April. My cycles are usually 28-32 days long (last month got my AF on the 19th). I can't believe I'd be pregnant this soon. This past month I've had a lot of symptoms, but they could be very explainable as it's allergy season and I've been through a lot of work related stress.

We did a HPT last Tuesday (5 days from my predicted AF), and it gave us a BFN.

My AF started on time today. That, plus the test alone would convince me that I'm not pregnant. However, this AF is not normal. My cycles usually start light pink to dark red on the first 3-5 days with heavy cramping. Today, I have little to no cramping and the fluids are dark brown with a little mucus.

Is is possible the HPT was wrong?

I would just test again if I were you. Just to be sure. Could be a chemical pregnancy (egg gets fertilized but doesn't implant).

Some women experience spotting in early pregnancy. A full-on bleed would not be 'normal', although some women have quite a bit of bleeding and still have healthy pregnancies. It wouldn't be an actual period/menses though, because if the lining of your uterus sheds, you can't sustain a pregnancy.
5 days before your expected period is a bit early to test, and you certainly could have a 'false negative' that early if hormone levels hadn't built up high enough yet. You could test again and be pretty confident that the results are accurate now.

Were you using BC before TTC? That could explain the difference in your menses...

We only used condoms for the past 7 years. BCP gave me moodswings and weird cramping when I used them.

Okaaaaay. I ran another HPT this morning (technically day 2 of AF) but it was a BFN.

But I don't totally buy it. Something is up. Not long after my first entry here, my AF completely stopped yesterday. After cleaning my Diva cup for the first time, all fluid turned clear. I think I'm going to make a dr appointment for this or next week (dh and I were intending to go for yearlies). If things have not returned to normal by then, I'll mention it and probably get a BT. I hope there's nothing wrong (aside from the test being negative--of course).

how many days past ovulation are you? It could be implantation spotting, which happens about 10 - 13 days past ovulation, it can be mistaken for AF.

I have a friend who has implantation spotting every time she gets pregnant, enough to make her think it's just an early, light period. Even with her 4th, she missed it. Took a test, it was negative, a month later, her cycle was late, tested and it was positive. when she went in for her ultrasound, they told her she was 4 weeks ahead of where she thought she was. You might try testing again in a week.

I had implantation spotting 13DPO on the same day as my + HPT. It sounded quite a bit like that. Very light bleeding, mostly dark brownish blood, started that night and was over the next morning. I'd wait about 2-3 days and test again.

I think you ladies are right. It is probably implantation spotting. AF hasn't returned, and I'm having these funny light cramps...something between menstral and gas cramps (but with no gas).

These past few weeks I've been having a few other symptoms - super afternoon fatigue, constipation, (.)(.), weird feeling in my abdomen, lots of urination, uber moodswings, super congestion, etc...

I'll wait a few days and do one more HPT and later a bloodtest at the Dr's when we get our yearlies.

I have a feeling I'll test +, but it'll be shocking. I didn't think it would ever happen this fast for us.

Well, all the symptoms went away overnight. Then I started bleeding bright red for four days and cramped in my ovaries (never happens when I get my period). My gyno says I had a chemical pregnancy (early m/c). It was 4 weeks along when it happened. Probably a blighted ovum or stress.

He said we should wait until I get my actual period (probably late June) before TTC again. I have already given up caffiene and will be in even better shape (I've been running) so I'll be healthier.

I'm very sad to have lost it, but I believe things will work out next time. I don't feel quite as scared of pregnancy now. I had all the early symptoms, and it was really tough...yet when I realized I was pregnant I was happy and ready to endure it all. It's really amazing how our bodies and minds change when we get pregnant!
