My second ds is now 13 mos and I still haven't started menstruating again. With my first ds it was 11 mos and I was under the impression that most women got it earlier each time. Anyone else have experience with subsequent times being longer? I feel like I have been feeling it coming for months but still nothing.

With my first AF returned when she was 4-5 months old. With dd2 AF returned when she was about 9-10 months old. Actually it was in July both times. I don't know why some come sooner than others. I know what you mean by feeling it coming. I think I felt it coming for about a month and a half before it actually came back.

W/my first, I was 19, and my flow started 6 weeks- YES 6 WEEKS after birth, and I was bfing full time. W/my second, same thing...6 weeks later, right back to regular, and yes, I was bfing f/t. I was 25. Now at 38, I didn't get my flow until my baby was 9 months old, and I did feel it coming for the month or so before. I was happy not having it, but wondering why it wasn't coming considering my first two experiences!

5 months for first dd, not yet w/2nd dd. My midwife told me that you must feed until 'let-down' at least every 4 hours or your menstruation will return. My dd slept through the night and subsequently stopped night feeding early so that's why it returned when it did.

Here I was looking forward to no period for a long time - wham! Got it back at 11 weeks post partum, bf'ing day & night. So much for using LAM as BC.
: I understand that if you're plump, fat cells store more estrogen, (& I'm rather on the curvy side, even before preg.), so maybe that's why?

With DS, it was 15.5 months PP that AF came back. Nothing yet with DD and she is 11.5 months. I am tandem nursing this time, and I am hoping maybe since I am nursing 2 kids, it will keep AF away longer?

um, eight weeks.

Yes, we're exclusively nursing, not to mention pumping to donate.

But I had classes twice a week that resulted in a few times of four hours no-nursing/pumping.

We're actually very thankful since we would like to close-space another child. Praying hard for a big family, and my fast AF return was very exciting.

TODAY!! BLAH! Almost 7.5 months.. I guess I should feel happy and lucky that it wasn't at 6 weeks, huh!? hehe Now I am just hopeful that I will have this for a couple days, then not again for a few more months! I whined to my husband that I wanted a whole YEAR without periods... but then I thought.. I've actually had nearly a year and a half - including the pregnancy! hahaa

11 months with ds (my first child). 2 months with dd. I'm actually not sure if that was really AF, but I did see ovulation symptoms earlier in the month. My dd eats much less than my ds did, so that might explain the earlier return.
