Hi Ladies-

I hope you all survived Wilma OK and things are back to normal. I am a MA Mommy who is planning a January winter vacation. We will be staying in the South Beach area for 10 days. Any suggestions of any good places to check out with my DD? She will be almost 23 months. Kid friendly places to eat, parks, zoos, rainy day ideas, whatever comes to mind....

Also any good organic stores?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Miami is a great city! I lived there for 7 years and loved it!

The Miami Metro Zoo is great, but far south from South Beach. Will you have a car?

The Miami Seaquarium on Key Biscayne is great.

Miami Children's Museum

a cool site

Crandon Park Beach is my favorite place to take little ones. It's gentle, natural... very nice and simple.

Have a great time!

On the brink-

Thank you for the great sites. I have family in the area so I will have access to a car.

It's so important to have a bit of Florida sunshine to break up these long, cold snowy New England winters.

Now, just gotta lose some weight...LOL...

Thanks again,

I have lived here pretty much my whole life, and went to high school right on S Beach!

South Beach and Lincoln Road are very kid friendly, believe it or not. Go by the Art Collective on Lincoln Road mall, and the Sunday Flea Market.

There is a Wild Oats on South Beach on Alton Rd, and another place called Apple a Day that is run by a crazy guy, but he sometimes has good food there. There is an awesome organic fruit and veg and raw food market on Saturdays in Coconut Grove that I would love to meet you at. I love any excuse to go.
All of the above links are great. May I also recommend Enchanted Forest Park, just because I love the name. It's near S Beach (NE 135th S and W Dixie) and has great kiddie playgrounds, animals, and bike trails. And, it's free!

hi from the Keys. I am in Miami often, my dh has 2 stores up there ( Pinecrest and Homestead). We are thinking of moving up there in a year when my oldest girl is no longer able to go to our little school (only goes to 5th grade. )

I love all the parks up there, and shopping, places to eat. there is much to do in Miami- my girls love to see the ballet of Miami City Ballet, and the great museums. We shop at Wild Oats pinecrest and HOOOOOORAY there are opening a WholeFoods in Coral Gables!!!!
I agree with the Lincoln Road mall- my kids do like the walk there. I don't recommend the Zoo for ethical reasons, but the rehab area of the Miami Museum of Science has a great look at local critters injured and needing rehab.

Hi,

I live in Miami Beach and definitely agree:
1. Lincoln Road! Loads of fun. Great kid-friendly restaurants. A real hoot. Also have Farmers market on Sunday
2. Boardwalk on beach starting at 41st street
3. Also Wild Oats adn Apple a Day
4. Also Coconut Grove Saturdays Market--a truly amazing vegan experience
5. SOuth Beach LIbrary on 21st and Collins. Brand new, tons of books. Tuesday morning at 10 a.m bookreading.
6. 71st North Bay Village Pelican Rescue Shelter
7. Metro Zoo. (Personally I was super disappointed with Children's Museum. It's horrible)

That's all I think of for now. Have fun
