I'm totally shocked to be posting this, as I was definitely not expecting to see 2 lines on the stick this morning (I think my expression was something like this... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/jaw.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="dropjaw">), but seems I'll be looking for a midwife! My last 2 pregnancies were with a fabulous OB, but we've moved from the state, and I'm thrilled to be able to try out an experience with a midwife. I did have some complications with DD #2 - my water sprung a leak around 29 weeks, about the same time I found out I had GD - but I carried her to 38 weeks, and except for slight shoulder dystocia, she was born happy and healthy. I do have insurance, though wouldn't necessarily have to pay that way. And I highly doubt DH would consider a homebirth, if that makes a difference. I used Pam too for my HBAC. I'd totally recommend her. The hospital in Salem is pretty awful.

Thank you so much for the recommendations!! I didn't reseach my previous OB at all - just went to the one who delivered my nephew because I was so impressed by him. I think I will set up an appointment to visit with Pam, and possibly a few others. I'm excited to start this process! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

i am of the camp that, its not my husband birthing the baby, its ME, so he doesnt have to be 100% on board with my plans to birth anywhere, tho it would be nice to have his support. lucky for me i DO have his support no matter what i choose.<br>
remember, its YOUR body, your choice. if you need your DH to support it def go talk to Pam, she is awesome for calming nerves and expressing herself well.<br>

Are you in Salem or Albany? If DH doesn't fly with the homebirth, I'd honestly be a little scared of hospital birthing in either place. Corvallis has a few docs that are pretty decent, and there is a MW group in our hospital too that has one lady that I adore. Check out Dr. Boyle with the Samaritan OB group, or Katie Robbins with the Samaritan MW group.<br><br>
I'm a homebirther myself and adore Lisa Lehrer, though it sounds like Pam is closer for you (and I've heard awesome things about her<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">).

We are in Albany, but I've been checking out options in Salem since that's where DH works. He likes to be involved with appointments and especially since my last pregnancy didn't go very well, I wanted to give him as much opportunity to attend appointments this time, too. We hadn't even talked about Corvallis, so maybe we need to add that to our list. I have an appointment in the works with Pamela (yea!) and another midwife group out of Silverton. I think they only deliver at the hospital up there, though, which would be a 45 minute drive or so, on a good day. Given that my last labor was 45 minutes, start to finish, I'm not sure that will be a very good option! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> There was one CNM that worked here, but she's gone, and if they hire another CNM, she won't deliver, so I'd end up with an OB anyway... not sure how all that works, or why, but it didn't give me a great feeling!<br><br>
So thank you for the recommendations - I'm going to keep them handy, as I'm still exploring!
