Any experience? I just moved out here (Oswego) and I'm going to need someone soon. It will be a hospital birth, but I'm hoping for a hospital that will let me move around during labor, drink water, won't push meds, etc. It looks like the Birth Place at St. Josephs is very good, but that is a bit of a drive. I have zero info on Oswego hospital, which is conveniently located.

Also, I need a doc or a midwife. Preferably someone who isn't overly interventionist. I'm very low risk and have a family history of problem-free natural births...

We're two mamas to be here, so queer-friendly is obviously important, too.

Suggestions? Experiences?

Thanks in advance!

I wish I had some more useful advice...when I was preg with ds#2, I was going to St. Joe's for prenatals and was "risked out" of their BC The criteria for their BC is that you have to be b/t 37-40 wks for starters and the other criteria was also strict. When I was induced there for that preg they totally ignored my signed by Dr. birthplan on top of that. I don't know much about Oswego hospital. My first birth at St. Joe's was traumatic and after the second one, I swore no hospital ever again....just my experience.

But I wanted to pipe and say fellow bi Oswego mom here, on the west side of the river. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Thanks to you both! I'd considered a homebirth, but I'm not sure I'll have a home to birth in by then! We're in the process of buying a house, so we might be just moving in there, or we might be in an apartment, blah blah blah....

Thanks for the links JesseMomme, I'd found that first one, but not the details, that does help me to get an idea of the policies.

And hello, also from the west side! We're practically neighbors! Are you enjoying the return of winter?

hi. I am due in 8 wks and I see Associates for Womens medicine. Dr Waldman's group. He delivered my dd 3.5 yrs ago at the Birth Place, we had a natural birth able to walk around, no iv, no episiotomy, etc. Early discharge. This time our dd will be with us and she can stay the night also if we don't get discharged before then.

I had a wonderful experience at the birth place. I tried to convince dh of a homebirth but he wouldn't hear anything of it.
