how do you go about petitioning a school district about homeschooling? I know that someone here mentioned that since we moved that we could just unenroll our DS from the district that he was in and just "forget" to enroll him in the new one but I want to do this the right way.

What do I do? What do I say? Do I make an appt? Sorry for all the questions its just the time is drawing near for us to officially let the school board now and I am so nervous about it!

If you are in Michigan, then that is exactly what you do. You do not report that you are homeschooling to the district. If you were staying in the same district that you pulled him from, then a courtesy letter might be in order, just to stop any snoopers. Really, in Michigan, no reporting. Just live your lives.
