We recently found out that our three-year old is allergic to several foods. I am trying to bake foods for him with substitutions. One ingredient that I am having a hard time finding is milk-free, soy-free margarine. Does anybody know where I can buy or order such a product? Thank you.

Depending on the recipe, you could probably use your choice of oils rather than margarine. Also, some fat-free recipes use applesauce or prunes (I think) in place of oil/butter/margarine. Maybe you could use one of these substitutes in your recipes.

Good luck.

Coconut butter/oil is a nice vegan butter substitute. It stays solid to 76 degrees and then melts nicely. I use it for all my cooking and baking, even spreading it on toast. It is perhaps the purest 'butter' out there. We switched from Earth Balance.
