Help.. I have these flying millers(? )moths? bugs that are in our food cupboards. I have had to throw out all my flours, sugars, corn meals etc. How do I get rid of them and persuade them to stay away??? Somebody said a stick of Spearmint gum would do the trick, but once the smell is gone, does it still work? Do I unwrap it? Do the smell transfer to the flour ?

If you repackage your flours, sugars, cornmeal, etc. into glass jars with tightly-sealed lids, the bugs will go away in a few days. Without access to the food, there's no sense in them sticking around.

You an also put the flours and sugar in ziplocks and put it overnight in the freezer. That's a trick my mom told me about.

MamaMonica, I'm puzzled..wouldn't that just get you frozen bugs? Once the flour thaws, wouldn't new critters return? OR should I just keep everything in the freezer? (Like THAT would be possible!) LOL
