Minneapolis and south: Intentional Communities

We are still working on relocating to south of Minneapolis. I am starting to wonder if there are any Intentional Communities in the area. We are sending our two kids to a charter school. I've applied to 3-5 charter schools. The ones I'm leaning toward are near Faribault and Northfield. Rice and and Scott counties. Another school is in Chaska, Carver County.

We want a place we can garden, have chickens, maybe a few acres. Still want to go to the city for work and entertainment.

Do you know any Intentional Communities or interesting towns I should visit? Any contacts of people trying to start an IC?

Welcome to the area (or soon to be here)! I am a board member of a charter school and worked there as well for a year. Minnesota has a great variety of charter school options.

I am not very familiar with the South side of the Twin Cities. But I hope you find what you're looking for there. I hope others have some info on any possible communities, I'd be interested to see if there are, too!

I'm a little in the dark, what constitutes an Intentional Community, especially to you? I could maybe tell you more about Northfield if I better understood what you are hoping to find.

I still have contacts at Prairie Creek you could talk to if you want to, I didn't hear back from you about that in your other post. The head lady at STEM also goes to my church, although I don't really know her on a personal basis. Is there anything you would like to know from her?
If you're looking for acreage, I'm not sure if cohousing is something you're hoping to find, but here are a couple contacts concerning that:

Come to think of it, Bruce Anderson of Buffalo Commons and Elizabeth Hutchins, who does some of the Norcoh blogging, both go to my church, too. I'm detecting a trend here...

Have a good night!
I didn't even look at your post before because I don't know of any intentional communities in my area.

However, I personally have many of the things that you're interested in. I live southwest of the twin cities. I live on a few acres in the country, raise chickens, garden, and will probably get some bees this spring
My DH works in Eden Prairie, which is a 30 minute drive.

My kids attend a FABULOUS little charter school, which I also work at. So I'd be happy to answer any questions about the school.
