I gave my ds loads of miso soup even before he was one. The miso does get diluted in the soup. My concern now is whether I should have been giving him so much soy. But for me, since I don't use a lot of salt, I feel salty foods here and there won't hurt.

I would definitely say the nutritional value far outweighs the salt content. Especially if you usually limit salt in your dc's food. Salt has important minerals and everyone needs a bit. If you're concerned about soy they also make brown rice or barley miso which is just as yummy and nutritious.
