I was having contractions off and on all yesterday. I took my nifedipine late afternoon which has been affective every other time I've taken it this week but this time it didn't work so well. An hour after taking it I started to feel contractions every 15 minutes. We sat down to watch the Lost pre-show and they started to come every ten minutes, then during the second hour I got 11 of them. At this point we thought it would be a good idea to go get checked out.

So I get three on the 15 minutes it takes to drop our son at the inlaws and get to the hospital, I'm having one right as we walk through the hospital doors. Once I get strapped into the machines, guess what happens.... nothing!!!! OMG!! I was so frustrated. Not a single contraction until I had been there for 2 hours. Never felt so stupid in my life. My doctor had them do an FFN test and a urine test to make sure I didn't have any infections brewing. Both were negative. So I can be guaranteed to not go into labor for at least 7 more days.

The only thing good to come out of this is knowing that she can't come too early now. I guess I just contract a lot and it doesn't mean anything is happening. I will not go again until I'm positive it's labor!

Aw I hear that happens all the time. Don't be embarrassed. At least all is well. If you didn't know, you can watch the LOST finale on Hulu.com - DH and I just finished it. Interesting ending. Hmm.

I'm glad she's hanging around inside for a bit longer.

BTDT. With ds, I was having a VBAC and had "promised" to go in to the hospital very early in labor. We lived 45 minutes from the hospital and I really didn't want anything to affect my VBAC. I went in to the hospital in false labor THREE times. I would have horrible contractions for hours. They wouldn't go away with laying down and water, walking around, nothing. When they would get to around 5 minutes (sometimes closer together) I'd go in. And then they'd stop. After time 3, I told my doc that she wouldn't see me again unless my water broke or there was a head between my legs. The next time I went in was because my water had broken.

They were all SO nice about not making me feel like an idiot. They were able to confirm that I was having contractions when I first went in, so that helped me feel not so insane. I think that experience has helped me relax and just wait out the contractions last time and this time. I knew with dd2 that it was real because they had changed to crazy painful not being able to breathe contractions for a couple hours. It's funny how people freak out when I say I'm having contractions, but I don't have any desire to go in to the hospital in false labor again so I just wait.

I so hope my water will break first. It makes it so easy, then there is no question! This is how it happened with my son, and for my second labor I was induced so I've never had to judge if was in real labor. Last night I learned my lesson though, I won't be heading over until either my water breaks or I'm having crazy intense contractions... really the only reason I did last night was because I'm only 35 weeks and worried about pre-term labor.

I was talking to my OB at my 34 week appointment last week. My dh mentioned that I'd been having contractions and she said that at this point they wouldn't do anything to stop labor. That hit my dh pretty hard but I like knowing that I wouldn't get the "you should have come in earlier so we could do something to stop it" speech if I would go into labor.

I am sorry to hear that you missed your show, but you definitely did the right thing by going in! At least you know that baby is staying put for now it seems!
