So I pulled out our mop and apparently didn't air it out properly because there was lots of dark mold on it. So I doused it w/ dish soap and sprayed it w/ super hot water until I couldn't see anymore. Then I boiled it in a pot for 10-15 min. Can I now use it or should I just trash it a buy a new one?

If the mold is black the spores are almost impossible to kill. I'd toss it rather than risk spreading more mold around the house.

oh... you must have really liked that mop! Will boiling bleach (i know, totally not green) in the pot kill the mold? If not, or if you don't want to use bleach... I'd get rid of the pot too.<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> sorry

Here's what happens when mold gets pervasive:<br><br><a href="http://www.abc4.com/content/specials/as_seen_on/story.aspx?content_id=88ee47ab-46f5-4385-a1bc-047cba66f8b8" target="_blank">tiny url</a>
