A friend of mine was speaking with a young mom who was recently kicked out of the Old Country Buffet in Cherry Hill for nursing her 4mo baby. Suposedly she was asked to leave and told "You can't do that here" and that an adjacent couple complained (if I had a nickel...). She wasn't sure of her rights at the time so she left. Here's the kicker: she had a blanket over herself! I'm not looking to get in the debate about discreet vs. "out there", merely pointing out that the "tolerance" level of that manager was pretty low. Another local lactivist and I are pondering a course of action, but I thought I'd give everyone here a heads up, in case they are hungry in the area

FWIW, I've nursed my younger dd several times in the Deptford OCB without the dreaded blanket and was never given so much as a sideways glance. In fact, one waitress commented favorably on our girls while the little one was nursing!

I truly hope she pursues this.

Yes we do, and pending legislation regarding the right to pump in the workplace. This particular mom wasn't sure, so she "took the path of least resistance". The friend she spoke with is my co-organizer for the New Jersey National NurseOut (see this thread) and she has been invited to come out and meet other nursing mamas. I'm guessing that particular manager hasn't folowed the hubbub about The View...

I don't think it's too late. I think you should strongly encourage her to make a report!

I used to work for OCB, for all of 2 weeks, 7 years ago. I haven't set foot in one since. I was not terribly impressed. I hope they at least apologize. Jerks.

I think this mother has a moral obligation to make some sort of stink about this. Otherwise, the management at that place will just continue to bully nursing mothers when someone else is uncomfortable.

Someone needs to inform them that they're operating outside of the law when they pull this crap.

I've been kicked out of Mystic Lake twice for breastfeeding :LOL
It was a halfway point to visit relatives I had not seen in a long time. The first time we just left and took our business elsewhere. I was in the hallway, so I am sure they wrote on their report that I was letting a minor into the casino or something dumb.
The second time I raised a stink because I was in the restaurant and I was in that circle booth way in the back of the restaurant with family all around me! The only way they could have known was if a camera was right above me. That is what really freaked me out.
Anyways, I haven't been back there, so I have no idea if they have changed.

Maybe if the original mother doesn't want to pursue it, someone else can go in there, nurse, get harassed, and then complain.
