I served on active duty in the Army before I had children, and I just have to say that I would never want to do it as a mother. You are at the military's beck and call...you will have to pull overnight duties, you will have to go away for weeks (or longer!) at a time, and you may never get the days off that you want. You have NO CONTROL over your schedule anymore, and my experience with the Army is that it is very woman-unfriendly. You wouldn't believe the open misogyny that is rampant and unchecked. I have to give the idea a big thumbs down.
