My daughter is almost one and I've begun to look at the two Montessori Schools near us (Chesapeake Montessori and Montessori International). She could start probably at 15-16 months. She goes to an NAEYC accredited day care now which I love but I'm wondering if Montessori is better overall. It's more $$ but still within our budget. Any thoughts on the Montessori approach and whether it's worth the extra?

I've been to open houses at both those Montessori's and have observed at one. I think for your daughter's age, it would be good. I personally didn't feel like it would be a good fit for my son who would be 3.5 next fall. The class size is too big, the teachers weren't hands on enough, and I felt like the kids are mostly working independently and not learning together. I didn't feel it was as nurturing as it could be. I'm most likely going to send him to a Reggio school next year because I really like their philosophy.
