11/11/05 - had my follow-up ultrasound this afternoon, and we saw ! BIG sigh of relief..... 171 beats per minute, nice and high. We both feel so much better. They dated me as 8w1d, which is right on target with my LMP, so that means last time I was in fact 6w1d when the tech didn't see anything in the sac - so, this little one's nickname will be "sneaky pete" while in utero, since he/she was hiding from us the first time!

Thanks everyone for your support before...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

...if the rest of this pregnancy goes like this, I'm goign to have a nervous breakdown by next month...

So, the hcg last week was great, good doubling with no problems. I get set up for the U/S today, and...

...she sees a yolk sac, but doesn't see anything in it. According to LMP I should be 6w1d, and she just kept saying "you look like you're really, really early." and the measurements she put in on the U/S dated it as 5w5d. I know she can't say anything to me, but how discouraging...with DS at 6w3d we saw his little heart chugging away - this time, a sac, but nothing in it.

So, I guess I just have to wait until my next appt to see if they hear a heartbeat (I'll be almost 10w at that next appt) or until something happens here - unless they want me to go back for another ultrasound next week to check for viability. Sigh. NOT the kind of news I wanted to hear. I guess I'll talk to the midwife tomorrow and see what she wants to do.

So far, I'veworried more in the past 2 weeks than I did my entire last preggo...

Well, thanks for letting me unload again. Hope everyone else is doing well!!

I'd try to get in in a week or so and have them check again, It will put your heart at ease.

I know how tough that can be. Just a quick question for you, did she do an external or an internal untrasound? Next time you go, ask if she can do the internal ultrasound. When I went in for mine she couldnt see anything from the external ultrasound, but when she did the internal she could see the baby, heartbeat and all. I personally found it a heck of a lot more comfortable then her pressing on my belly for a good picture the other way too. Just a suggestion, among other things it might give you better peice of mind. Hang in there mama....we are all thinking about you.

Thanks, mamas.....

It was an internal, seekermage, but thanks for the idea. I'll call the midwife's office today and ask that I get another U/S at the end of next week, because you're all right, I'll go insane if I have to wait 3 weeks to find out. I still *feel* the same, no bleeding, the occasional light cramp here or there, and nothing *seems* wrong.

Thanks again for the hugs, everyone :

Hi, I was just thinking, I would have at least a 4-5 day difference in dates based on LMP vs. ovulation date. I don't ovulate til day 19, so I'm guessing an ultrasound would show me as being several days behind what my LMP date would be.

Were you tracking your ovulation by any chance? If you ovulate later than day 14, then I would guess that the slight discrepancy is totally normal. And even if not, that is still pretty early to see the whole shebang, at least according to what my midwife says.

I hope you get some peace of mind soon!

Talked to my midwife, who loked at the results of the ultrasound herself, and we talke dabout dates, etc. and she thinks that it's probably that I'm just a few days behind what we "think" I am with my LMP, like I ovulated later or something. She said with my hcg's more than quadrupling and the sac size measuring in the 50-75th percentile, everything is probably fine, but she wants to wait *2* weeks for another ultrasound (she said she knew that was a lot to ask, but she didn't want me to get another bum u/s if I am in fact behind dates by a few days).

I feel way better after talking to her, and am OK waiting 2 weeks now (it's scheduled for the 11th). She told me to keep her posted if I have any cramping or bleeding, or any of my other normal symptoms go away (the sore boobs or nausea) and we'll then step things up but otherwise she'd rather wait the extra few days to be sure I'm farther along.

Soooo, that's all for now. I feel better, still a *little* worried, but not nearly as bad as I was yesterday or this morning.

Thanks again everyone for the hugs.

(((hugs))) I hope the 2 weeks fly by! Things sound like they're actually progressing just fine - I hope they continue to go so well!

I'm glad to know your midwife could bump your U/S up a little bit. Here is one more
Aw, everyone, thanks!!!!

Still feeling the same, so I'm going on the thought that everything is fine and I ovulated late last month...I had DH on a rigorous every-other-day GIO program to try to get preggo (from the last day of my period for 3 weeks - it got to the point where we would look at each other and say, "well, it's xday. You ready? Let's get it done." - how romantic ) so the fact is I could have ovulated later than I usually do and we still would have gotten the timing right.

Thanks again everyone...only 11 days now until the U/S, I can do that!

Happy Halloween, everyone (if you're inclined to celebrate)

Congrats....hang in there sneaky pete!

Those little buggers sure can make ya nervous! I just had my second ultrasound as well and got REALLY nervous when she stopped in the middle, turned on the lights and did a lot of hmmm and checking my chart and everything. I "guess" everything is ok, but it still made me really nervous. Soo glad everything is right on schedule. Thanks for the update
