I changed my schedule at work so that I can get into work an hour later. That has helped with my tardiness. Now I want to add in breakfast for the boys. What do you WOH mama's do for breakfast as you are running out the door.

Our norm has been peanut butter bread or rice cakes. They are getting bored with that and they are still hungry when we get to school.

Ideas and Suggestions are most appreciated.

My morning routine does not work! It would if my dh would get out of bed before 8AM, but he just won't.

I get up at 6:15 to pump and then set up the breakfast--oatmeal and hot water on the stove. If the baby wakes up, I nurse him and then bring him into the bathroom while I shower. (Or take him with me to kitchen, set up breakfast, nurse and shower, or nurse, set up breakfast and shower, or nurse, set up breakfast, nurse, shower, nurse...

nurse, nurse, nurse, nurse!nurse! lovely nurse! wonderful nurse!

Then I get out of the shower and bring the baby with me into the bedroom while I put on my clothes. By then my dh gets up and dishes out the oatmeal. Somehow that part of the equation, the last part, is what makes me late nearly every day...that and the traffic. and the nursing. Did I mention still nursing?

Anyway, oatmeal is a very convenient thing to have to breakfast. You boil the water, add the rolled oats and raisins, turn down the heat to very low, and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes while you are doing what you need to do to get ready for work. Then everyone gets to put what they like on their cereal.

Here's my 3 year olds fave breakfasts. They all require some prep but he can and will eat them without assistance which saves me time.

Granola and some kind of fruit
Semi hard boiled egg and some kind of fruit
French toast with cinnamon i/o syrup and some kind of fruit
Peanut butter sandwich and some kind of fruit

I dole it out in these little bowls and if he hasn't finished by the time we have to go he can continue eating in his stroller.

Maybe if you throw in some fruit and some cheese chunks they would be more satisfied? And use a denser bread like wholewheat raisin bagels?
