I'm wondering if any of you ladies have dealt with morning sickness and pregnancy while still nursing your toddler. More specifically, have any of you had nausea and vomiting so bad that you had to get put on anti-nausea medicine.

I had terrible morning sickness with my first and ended up having to take something called Zofran just to keep anything down. As bad as it was I'm afraid it will happen again with this pregnancy. I really want to continue to nurse, but I don't know what will be safe to take and still nurse if the vomitting is bad. BTW, I tried other "remedies" to get off the Zofran with my first pregancy and ended up bowing to the porcelin throne the minute I missed a dose.

I'd like to hear how you dealt with morning sickness and still successfully nursed your toddler through it. Thanks!

I also had terrible morning (day - all day) sickness with my first. I was miserable and wondered how I would ever have more children because I didn't want to do that again. I took some thing over the counter but I don't remember the name, something for motion sickness. When I got pregnant with #2, I used the Sea Bands and made sure I drank water even if eating was difficult, which it was. I still felt terrible, but not nearly as bad as with the first. I think keeping up on water was the key for me. However, I did wean her at ten weeks pregnant, not because of taking anything or the sickness, but because of the creapy crawlies, nails on chalkboard feeling I got from nursing. The same thing happened with preg #3. I was sick with him too (so much for sick w/ girls, not w/ boys like my sisters). I did the same things, Sea bands, water, and peanut butter and oatmeal. Lots of pb and oatmeal. Still sick (but at least the girls could play together since mommy was no fun). Not exactly the info you wanted, as I wasn't successful at nursing, but just wanted you to know about m/s things that helped me.

i don't have specific information on that exact drug, but wanted to let you know that in general if it is safe to take while pregnant it is safe to take while breastfeeding. more of the medication will get to your fetus then your nursing child. maybe consult with hale on that particular medicine?

You could try contacting a local lactation consultant to get info on the drug. Most hospitals have them on staff and are willing to give out that info for free! You may need to leave a message as they tend to be really busy.

BTW Propel (fitness water made my gatorade) has high levels of vit b6 which is helps combat morning sickness, also my doctor suggested taking 1.5 chewable childrens vit. instead of a prenatal vit as they are easier on the stomach and have the same stuff..... these things worked wonders for me!!
