Hi Diaper Mamas!

I turned my sister's friend onto cloth and now her dd has outgrown what I gave her. She has $50 to spend and wants to get more fitteds (I know... tall order!). She and her dh are students and thus have very little to spare for this purchase.

Her dd is 9lbs at 1mo (7lb11oz at birth) and is chubbing quite nicely. They do have a washer and dryer, however their dryer isn't exactly mighty so they need something quick-dry as well.

At first I was thinking of Liz's (my faves), but her dd would outgrow the sz 1's soon... besides, they start at what, $11? Sugarbums hemp are 8.50, but her dd would outgrow the smalls soon, yet the mediums would be too big right now.

Any suggestions? Also, are there any good, affordable one-size dipes? Seems like the OS dipes run around $15 and up.

TIA!

Unfortunately, it seems to me that quick dry tend to cost more because they involve more sewing and/or snapping than sewn-in soakers.

Is she willing to buy used? If so, she might be able to get some good deals on the TP.

Good luck!

I've had good luck with Growing Greens. Hemp, quick dry (snap in soaker), one size, $14. They were just redesigned with a larger snap in soaker which is nice. DD is 22+ pounds and it fits her nicely. Lots of snaps to adjust to new born on up.
Good luck!

I know there is at least WAHM store that offers layaway. Maybe one of the other mamas will remember?

I think it was either www.diaperware.com or www.mamaessentials.com

Good luck to your friend!

Just wondering but are you sure that he will be out growing a sugarbums small soon? my son is nearly 25 lbs (like 24 1/2) and he still fits into his mediums on the smallest snap setting! We have had these diapers for a good long while, and they are used a lot, but they make up the most of my stash and what I reach for first! Here med sizing says Medium 16 lbs. – 25 lbs. but like I said I think the SS ones fit well beyond that for sure! (we have two larges and while will fit longer he doesn't NEED a large yet!) so I would say order a small and see how it fits, you can always ask her to put an extra snap setting on the med too so you can use those REALLY long!? Heidi is great and will work with you I am sure of it! ~

Hi
Just wanted to say that the medium sugerbums fitted my ds at 11-12lbs (and my dd at 26lbs) so I think they might be the best choice for your friend. Oh my ds is chubby lol he has the same waist and thigh measurement as my 2 year old and now at 18lbs they fit on the middle snap.
These diapers don't sound to bad. I've seen them on ebay and they're pretty inexpensive.
Thread about sweet dreams diapers

Sweet Dreams Diaper link

Myabe pick up some used Liz's Cloth or growing greens on the TP? The Liz's Cloth are my all-time fave fitteds, too.

I vote for the Sugarbums mediums. I would try one and see how it is then, as suggested, ask her to add a snap or adjust snaps if needed. I really think the mediums would fit quite small and last for quite awhile. I have to say of all my hemp dipes these are the nicest quality and hold up the best to washing.
