I've got my 23 week prenatal coming up on Monday and I stepped on the scale and realized I'm up about 7 pounds since last time. Wow! I don't ever remember gaining that much between visits with my DS. I'm not terribly worried, except that I had only gained 3 pounds total by my 19 week visit, and I'm hoping the midwives don't freak out. Of course, a 2 week vacation with one week in Italy and hardly any exercise (asthma is too bad) could make anyone gain weight! Anyway, has anyone else managed to gain this much weight between appointments?

Yup! Not to worry! This last time I gained 5 lbs in four weeks, but before that it was 1.5 lbs (4 wks) and 8 lbs (5 wks). It seems like it all evens out in the end. As long as you are eating healthy, your body will take care of the rest. I gained 50 lbs total with ds (no GD) but lost all of it with no special effort.

Sounds like Italy was just what you needed! Hope it was fun

With my other two pregnancies, I would gain 8 lbs one month and hardly anything the next. I gained 30 and 35 lbs over the course of my pregnancies, so it all evens out. In the past 3 weeks, I've gained 5-6 lbs. with no prior weight gain this pregnancy. I don't really like gaining this quickly, but I keep reminding myself that I did this the other times and it was okay in the end. And also, that my body is probably playing catch up since I gained nothing until 18 weeks.

I was really surprised stepping on th scale yesterday! I had gained about 5 pounds then yesterday another 6 had shown up! I hadn't weighed myself in a couple weeks... or gone tot he gym since we were out of town and my grandma wsa moving. I'm feeling bigger in my legs, so I'm second guessing the Klondike bars, but I think it's ok otherwise.

I was on a very successful diet when I got preggers, had lost almost 70 lbs in 4 months. Then I went to piggin' out when I got the + on my test and gained 20lbs in 14 weeks. Now I am slowing down, since then I have only gained 2 lbs. So I have a high avg gain so far but quitting the diet cold turkey did most of that, I just couldn't control myself when I found out about the pregnancy. hey, at least I know now which diet works for me and how to lose the babyweight fast.

Oh, GROAN! I need to stop the madness with the food. I gained an easy 10 pounds between my May and June appointment, and I'm already two pounds up from my last appointment.

I gained an obscene amount of weight with my last pregnancy and had just lost all of it (via Weight Watchers) when I got pregnant this time. It's really been a struggle to adapt my eating habits to pregnancy - I seem to have two modes of eating -- sensible loss or crazy gaining.

I've gained the most this past 4 week period as well. I have my 22 week visit next week and I'm up 6 lbs. I'm not too worried, my belly has popped for sure. But it does give me pause to lay off the sweets.

I think I will be up about 7-8 lbs this time. I am up 10 since pre-pregnancy and 7 since my first appointment. I am cringing at the thought of getting on the scale... I LOVE FOOD! I can't help it. I love it.

Wow - it is good to hear I am not the only one! Maybe the 4/5 month is a good period for growth?

Thanks beautiful women for the reassurance!
