So if you were going to be spied on 24/7 by a camera crew for the new hit AP reality show, what would be your most embarrassing moments? What would shock/surprise the mainstream reality-show-watchin' public the most about your daily life?

I might be embarrassed by...
--how little time I spend wearing a shirt!
--how much I sing silly things in a cutesy high-pitched voice (off-key)
--the frequency of and excitement level that accompanies my talk about poop!
--some of the things said to baby and/or DH in the middle of the night

I don't know if anything would shock or surprise the viewers, except maybe the lack of conflict in our general household...we'd never get the ratings in this house! Too laid back!

My reality show would last about...1 episode! People would fall asleep at the lack of yelling, fighting, (um... sex), we have a 9 month old

My craziest thing that I did during the last nine months as a 1st time mommy?

I was pumping in the middle of the night to relieve some VERY full boobs. I was SO tired, she was like 3 weeks old. I forgot to attach the bottles to the pumps and fell asleep while pumping. I pumped about 4 oz from each breast and it was all over me, the chair, the floor...ALL wasted!! It was warm, so it didn't wake me right away. I was SO pissed I had wasted so much milk.

Well, I have been ECing my 2 mo old for about a week now. Yesterday I got him to the toilet ALMOST in time. He had one of those big, explosive poos, and instead of landing in the toilet, it sprayed the outside of the toilet and floor. OMG! YUCK!! My husband was like, "Oh yeah, this EC thing is a great idea!" It was disgusting, but I thought it was pretty hilarious. DS felt so much better and was so smiley!! He didn't really care about the mess he created.

I think people may be shocked at the lack of certain baby "essentials."

things you won't find here:
nursery (her room is an unfurnished play room atm)
baby food
pacifiers
bucket seat
changing table
baby bathtub
bath hammock full of bath toys (I've seen this in every house with kids except mine!)
stroller
bottles (there are two actually, but they haven't seen the light of day for many months)
drugs (ykwim)

I could see someone walking in and saying "Do you even have a baby?" We also lack certain rituals such as freaking out if baby sneezes, WBV, and vaccinations. I take DD outside even when it's cold .

I would love the opportunity to show how a 110 lb 5'2" 25 yr old mama carries a 20lb baby almost constantly, how I change cloth diapers whenever she pees, how DD pees whenever I put her on the toilet (if she has some) and has since she was a month old, and how the only solids she eats are the ones she puts in her own mouth. I think a lot of things we do seem extremely normal to us but would be jaw droppingly shocking to many mainstream mama's. But yes, boring. Except for those baby smiles! Baby smiles can never be boring!

This is a fun thread!

If I were on the show I am sure people would find me hilarious.

-When I pump bottles I stand there and yell "MOO!" Regardless of what time of day it is.
-I use the bathroom several times a day while still attached to baby.
-When I am really desperate to keep Harvest happy I hula hoop naked in the living room. I also make the most hilarious faces and sounds to keep him entertained.
-The constant bickering between my husband and I regarding the baby is usually quite hilarious. Especially when I break into giggles because I am uncomfortable with the conversation.
-The many many times we have put him down for a nap or for bed and run like crazy into the living room to have sex quickly before he wakes up.
-The outifits that I put on are usually quite bizarre. Usually because I dont have time to think about what I am putting on. Sometimes I dont wear clothing-I literally walk around in underpants and a bra for the full 8 hours that my husband is gone.
-We nurse in some pretty funky positions.
-I try to do anything and everything with Harvest attached to me taking a nap.

I dont know. I think I am pretty funny but it is hard to explain it when the events are not happening.

The seat with the handle that many women use to carry babies. Personally I find them incredibly awkward because you are holding a heavy baby out to your side on a hard seat that would beat up your legs all day... but you know, you wouldn't want baby to get too attached or anything .

In addition to the nighttime rantings & lack of clothing...

- pumping milk with one hand while cooking with the other.
- sex in the kitchen, usually
- how rarely I get a shower (1-2 times per week lately)
- that I can be scrubbing poopy diapers one minute and prepping a meal the next (hey, that's when that anti-bacterial soap actually sees some use!)
- that there's never been a drop of formula in our home
- I don't own a diaper bag and will go shopping with 2 kids in cloth diapers with no extras with us (and certainly no emergency vials of infant Tylenol). Yeah, I'm nuts.
- the house isn't exactly baby-proofed.

And of course just everything else about me: vegan, atheist, breastmilk donor, that I've breastfed while pregnant and tandem-nursed, total Trekkie geek, etc.

The only nice things about them are that here where it is bitter cold you can put them in the seat, put blankies around them and a cover over the top and they stay snug and warm when you are out. Plus I tend to slip on the ice a lot and I'm scared to death that I will fall and drop him. As soon as spring hits though, he'll be out of it. It's not an anti-attachment thing for us. It's bulky and heavy but safe for now.

I always say that if big brother is really watching, he is soooo bored by my house. He might spy on a guy vacumning with a baby slung on him, walking around in boxers at 2am while the dryer is going to get Maggie to sleep after a 12 hour nursing session that didnt induce milk drunkness, Me with my shirt off nursing a new baby home,

shocking- nursing a 2 yr old a few years back, we dont own a stroller, we compost, roast our own coffee beans, we leave a very frugal lifestyle, it could go on and on. I might be a good candidate for wifeswap or one of those shows but I would drive the other guy totally nuts. :

Well, today I took a shower while my husband took the baby with him to pick up lunch. They got back just as I finished, and I was heading to get clothes and passed by them. My daughter got this mesmerized "a-ha" look on her face and started staring at my breasts, so my husband held her out in midair in front of me, and she latched right on, still in her snowsuit. I took her and held her under the arms and walked around for a while just to see how long she's stick. She seemed to really like that position for some reason. She was giggling while nursing. Photos were taken. So that's the kind of thing we do for fun 'round these parts.

I'm not really embarassed by anything except when we manage to bicker.

Nursing on the toilet...this unfortunately happens alot.

The stupid songs I sing to my kids and the even more horrific dancing that goes along with it.

Talking to myself...and my daughter asking me who I'm talking too.

My son eating dog food and me trying to fish it out of his mouth (this is actually really funny)

My son playing with toilet bowl water.

Dinner time with a kid who won't eat anything green, red, slimy, too sweet, too salty...you know where I'm going with this and us trying every trick in the book to get her to try JUST ONE BITE.

YUP! I rarely wear a shirt at home! What's the point? DD is usually attached to a boob. Oh the baby talk : All the things I say about her cute butt during diaper changes (tushy tushy tushy!!) She laughs every time I say that. Hah, oh the poop! Never thought I would care so much about another persons poop! And dh and I never fight..uber laid back.

Reminds me of the other day while I was folding dd's diapers. She was fussing and dh walked by with her and held her out to my boob and she just latched on so I laughed and nursed her. She's my little boob pirahna!

Great thread! Made me laugh!
...you mean a carseat? an infant carseat? I'm confused, I think. I use one everytime we go out in the car, don't y'all? And like a pp said, it is nice b/c we never put socks or hats or coats on, sometimes not even pants! and it's nice to just throw soft blankies on him when going from house to car. When we get to destination, he then goes in the sling.

If I had someone tape the moments where my ds smiles at my boobs and pinches my nipples and then dives in for some yummies, he would be traumatized for life. That and playing with his penis while saying "mamamamama". Hee hee
