I'd like some suggestions as to what to get a first time grandmother (my mom) for mother's day. I'm an only child, and this is her first grandchild. Ideas for Father's Day would be good, too, since we'll be having that before my due date.
My dh did get himself a webcam for his birthday, with the intent of being able to send them live updates with The Spitter. I thought that was a pretty good idea, since they live about 500 miles away.
Also, any Mother's/Father's Day gifts for my in-laws, the 12th-time grandparents?

That's a real puzzle! I hadn't really thought about Mother's Day in those terms for my mom yet- and this will be her first grandchild. I was originally thinking something new from Le Creuset, but now I think I need to be more creative! Hmm... Maybe I'll book a photo shoot for September with her and I and the baby?

I am a HUGE Precious Moments fan.

There are some cute grandma figurines on there that you might want to check out.

Blessings,

For Father's Day the first year Timothy was a baby, I took a plain grey t-shirt and did T's hand and footprints in fabric paint all over the shirt, and then wrote "i love my daddy". Tom loved it, and wore it so much he eventually had to relegate it to the rag box. So last summer, both boys did a new t-shirt together, and this time we did handprints for both, and then Timothy drew designs with the fabric paint. We used a nicer, heavier weight shirt, and Tom wears it all the time. I mean, ALL the time.

If you don't have a t-shirt, you could also just use some heavy paper and do handprints and/or footprints. We don't ever do anything fancy or buy things for Mother's or Father's day, even when the boys were babies. I think this summer Timothy will make a craft of some sort, and of course a card.

If you want something cool for grandparents, you might get a small cardstock of the baby's handprints at birth or shortly thereafter, and then add some text underneath, whatever you want it to say. Frame it nicely, and they have something special from their grandchild.

I got my mom a pouch sling on the mamma's milk coop and I was thinking about some other kind of carrier for my dad. If i could score a cheap ergo or something similar for him that would be awesome. They are 1st timers and so pumped about being grandparents! When we first showed them the slings and the ergo that dh & I were getting, they were talking about having to get them each one, so I hope I beat them to it.
