Hello ladies,

I know I don't post very often but I lurk all the time. I say that to say if you don't want to answer my question I totally understand but it is something I've been thinking about for quite a while.

In my pregnancy with my daughter I loss, looking back I remember thinking this baby does not move much, I had a son at first and since she was my daughter I figured that her not moving as much was simply a "girl thing" but as I come across other moms who've experienced a stillbirth, I seem to find they make the same statement I did. Their child didn't move a lot. They moved enough for us to know they were alive and well, but they weren't exactly extremely active, esp if the mother had a older child and a pregnancy to compare it too she would make this statement.

So I guess my question is was this true for you? I don't know what that would mean or if this is something I should have alerted my doctor too and maybe that would have made the difference.

Now that I am on my subsequent pregnancy there is just about never a time where this little one is not throwing a jab, or very strong movements. So I guess I was just wondering what/if you ladies could tell me from your experiences anything?

My losses were not fullterm, but I can identify.

I have two children who kicked the HECK outta of me it seemed during their pregnancies. I swear I started feeling regular movement around 16 weeks.

Fast forward to my 3rd pregnancy and I JUST wasn't feeling that much...I had an appt. at 16 weeks and an u/s and there she was- happy and alive and I mentined that I was not feeling too much and my OB wasn't concerned at all. I lost her at 20 weeks and I had never felt her REALLY kick me ya know? I should have. And I mentioned it to various people, but it NEVER occurred to me that something was really wrong. When I started bleeding...I knew right away that she was gone. I just knew. It was like all the puzzle pieces were put together.

During my 5th pregnancy ( I had a 5 week loss in between) I was going crazy thinking, " Is that a kick?" all of the time. When I was 15 weeks, had an appt. and everything was fine and I asked my doc AGAIN about the lack of movement. But he felt that since I am a bit "fluffy" and that my placenta was in the front, I wouldn't neccesarily feel much. At 16 weeks I felt the BIGGEST kick ever...more like a thump. I found out at 17 weeks that he/she was gone. I sometimes think that the kick/thump was her/his last goodbye to me.

So yah...I think lack of movement is a HUGE indicator.

Hugs to you and SO GLAD that this bug is kicking you like crazy!!!

I did not notice any difference in the amount of movement between my first and second (my stillborn dd). I feel like my memory is so bad nowadays though that I'm not sure I can trust it. Now, my third (which was post-loss) I vividly remember and he moved very little and freaked me out a LOT.

My 3 pregnancies that went to term all were vastly different in terms of movement. My girls were big kickers & my ds was more of a gentle swimmer. My 4th pregnancy ended in stillbirth at 22w5d. I didn't feel much movement from him, but my placenta was for the first time anterior which can affect how much you feel movement. I don't know.

Both my pregnancies the babies weren't super active. I think my placenta was in the front both times too.. so no real difference for me either. But babies do have different temperments, some are more mellow. I hope the one in my belly right now is break dancing in there! I'm 18.5 weeks, and have felt some movements here and there, but I want this one to wiggle and never rest!

Thanks ladies,

I dont know I guess I was hoping there was something that could stop this from happening and since I had read quite often when looking back that there wasn't much movement maybe there was something to it. I don' know. I just know even on ultrasound my daughter moved a little but just never was always swimming around but every test came back fine and every ultrasound we never had a issue so I don't know. I did figure that she was just a calmer baby and she was just not one to hop and move around.

SMR I hope that your little one wiggles up a storm too.

My little man was an Aries... he was ALWAYS moving! Well, not always, but you know... a very active little guy. He had clear patterns, and times he slept, but when he was awake you KNEW it! Which is why, when he started slowing down, I got concerned. My MW said, "They slow down at the end." And I couldn't remember how it was with my others well enough to say... but this felt different. (And it was...) I also defied the other patterns of my pg, and started doing the prodromal labor thing. Which had never, ever happened before. That, coupled with his lack of movement, should have been a big red flag for me... or for someone! Hindsight is 20/20... *sigh*

But to answer your question... he was a big-time active little boy in there. My placenta was fundal (at the top) so I could feel him, too.

I agree with pp, in that all babies are different. My four living children were ALL different. Micah, 5th was still born and I think in the middle/average as far as amount of movement..

sorry, I know you were hoping otherwise. but good you are getting much movement. If I am blessed again, I would want tons of movement like you are getting.
