Movement?

449 Views 13 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  girrllie
I'm feeling a few thumps and squirms. I felt them a little before this with my first pregnancy. Still doubting myself, because I'm edgy about miscarriage - BUT, I had one last night that could be nothing else! It felt like a big poke in my pubic bone.

Anyone else?

I was just about to post a movement thread!
Last night I felt him/her for the first time. I too have had some "is it or isn't it" moments but last night there was no question at all. I felt it low and put my hand on my belly where I had felt the movement and there was the tell tale hard little ball of baby pushing against me! I just burst into tears and grabbed dh's hand - he was able to "hold" baby for awhile too. It was so wonderful. Funny thing - ds was asleep in the other room when it happened and he is typically a pretty good sleeper. But when baby moved, Jake woke up. Maybe coincidence but I can't help but think he sensed his mommy and daddy's attention shift totally this the baby and he wanted to just let us know - "I'm here too!"

Anyway - the movement was totally reassuring and energizing and exciting. Yay for movement!

i've had stuff i thought might be but nothing definite yet
Teapot and Sela, how many weeks are you?

I'm at 12 weeks with my first pregnancy and I don't think I've felt anything yet. =( Actually I'm getting this weird feeling that I'm not really pregnant - I'm not showing, can't feel my baby, not barfing (well hardly) and not craving anything weird. I feel like an imposter!
s Tae, don't fret.
The average time to feel movement is around 16 weeks. Women who are very slim, or very sensitive tend to feel it earlier. I felt it in the first trimester with both my daughter and this pregnancy.

Tae, I feel the same as you. Like I'm 'faking' or something. I'm looking forward to *hopefully* hearing the heartbeat at next weeks prenatal appt. Just to give me something more tangible to work with.

Tae, I'm 14 weeks. Do not worry at all about not feeling movement yet. Very few people feel anything as early as 12 weeks - especially with first babies. With my first I didn't feel it this early - or maybe I just didn't recognize it as what it was since I had no idea what to expect. It will happen - and when it does it will be magic!

Teapot, we have the same due date - Dec 5!
a mini mini crampish but not hurtful like feeling...5-7 times over and over in the same spot. I am assuming it was mini movement. I am 14.5 weeks and I felt that this week. With my first son I was more like 16-17 weeks and it was more fluttery.
Hey, I'm Dec. 5th, too!

I haven't felt anything yet. I've been trying really hard though!! I lie super still at night and concentrate. And then every gurgle and twitch makes me wonder. Maybe I should just let it happen when it happens. I'll just be so happy when I can feel that there's actually a baby in there, yk? I thought I would feel the baby's presence somehow from the beginning of my pregnancy, but it hasn't worked out that way.
If not for the growing belly and boobs and the little bits of dried colostrum I would wonder if I was really pregnant, too.

sometimes i feel a bunch of little pokes and twitches (the other day in the car, it felt like s/he was rearranging furniture in my uterus!), but not all the time and not with consistancy. i'm around 12 weeks, so that's not surprising, it was the same with my daughter. by around 14 or 15 weeks, it was much more consistant.

I'm not due Dec. 5th... I don't share my due date, only my due month "December '05".

Oh wait, I just realized my sig looks confusing. I'll have to change it!

I got to hear the heartbeat today for the first time, and I feel a huge relief, obviously.
:

Once I knew where the baby was, though, I felt two instances later in that spot, but I am not sure. I could only describe them as "sweet", not painful. The mind is very powerful, and can trick us into feeling what we really want to feel, so who knows.

oops - sorry. I'm actually hesitant to say that's my due date - or anything is my due date really knowing that it's just an estimate. My due date with Jake was Dec 16 and he was born Nov 24 - you never can tell!

I've definitely felt movement for a couple of weeks now - same place every time when I'm lying down on my left side. It's great!
