Have not watched yet, thought others may be interested.

In other news, check out this new film about circumcision (thanks to Gloria Lemay for telling me about this!). I haven't watched it yet but have heard great things about it: Cut is a documentary film by Eliyahu Ungar-Sargon which examines the subject of male circumcision from a religious, scientific and ethical perspective. Using cutting-edge research, in addition to interview footage of rabbis, philosophers, and scientists, Cut challenges the viewer to confront their biases by asking difficult questions about this long-standing practice. They referred to Partly Private today on The View (ABC-TV in the US). Joy said she Twittered that her friend was attending a screening of a film about circumcision tonight, and that she (Joy) joked: "The director's cut?" and that the ABC people deleted her "too racey" Tweet.

Does anybody know if they did it or not? I get the feeling they might have done...or she doesn't seem to be saying.
Partly Private WON best documentary at Tribeca. That's good. Even if the movie's not one we would have made it puts our topic on the map. Hardore opinionated folks are rarely swayed. Most complacent people who get some info about circ come down on the side of human rights in my experience.

somewhat off topic, but answering your question:
when i asked a librarian friend about this subject, she said that, for most libraries, your best bet is to donate the funds for them to purchase said media "in honor of" or "in memoriam" and that will keep that copy in circulation. if you ask your local librarian, they should be able to tell you the specific policies of their library.

You know what, when I heard of this movie about a month ago I was concerned but based on what I read in the salon article I've moved from concerned to neutral until I have an opportunity to see it. Like what was said, it sounds as if it isn't what we would like to have seen done but it doesn't sound like it was awful. I would have rather seen Cut, Slicing through the myths of circumcision. But this doesn't sound bad I guess we'll see.
