I got it mostly because my dh is from Ethiopia.
Cried all the way through. Even dh was moved, and that's saying a lot. I was really, really impressed with the the way the clinic was run, and the way the women were treated, and the efforts to help them post operation. I thought it was awesome that the one girl who couldn't be completely healed, they helped find a position away from her village, where she wouldn't be abused and ostracized, and where she could heal from her loss.
There is another one (much less hopeful, unfortunately) about a similar clinic in the Congo. It's called
Lumo. But that one is not about birth trauma but a certain war trauma that causes fistulas.
