I've been concerned about my supply as of late. I pumped for the first 3.5 months b/c my 34 week preemie daughter could not latch. I had a good supply while EPing.

Since she has been able to latch (about 2 months ago), I've been moving to mostly BF and only pumping for when I'm away. On days that I am at home, I seem to have enought milk if I just nurse--but I can't seem to pump as much as I used to for days when I am away from her. (This results in her being fed formula during those times.)

So, I'm not sure if I have had a true drop in supply, or that I am now just regulated for her nursing. I didn't experience this at the time most women do b/c of the late latching, so I'm not sure. My daughter seems to be getting enough to eat on "nurse only" days, and she has an appropriate amount of output. I've also thought that I may not be responding well to the pump anymore b/c of nursing. I will also admit that I have not been pumping as much b/c nursing her is so much easier.

Does anyone have thoughts or experience with this?

Congrats on going from pumping to nursing! WOW!

Many folks here will say that nursing is much more efficient than pumping so of course you see less when you pump. But you were pumping before.

I would suggest continuing to pump as often as you can, even on the days that you are nursing to be sure that you have a freezer stash for when you need to be away. That's frozen gold!

If that doesn't get you the extra milk that you need in a few weeks, you might consider Fenugreek to boost supply. But since you were able to get there before just with pumping, your supply might just bounce right back.
