Hey mountain mamas!! I am so excited about our upcomming move. Finally getting out of this polluted city and heading back to the earth. First let me introduce myself. I am sarah mama to jade(who will be 3 when we move) and jades dad too. I am attending BCMT in the winter, so you know I will be a good friend who has to give away massages in the near future . We are veggie, natural, hippie etc. So I have a few questions. I have visted Boulder a few times in my younger years, and I know that it is aswome. So do I want to live in or out of town?(I think out) I could tell you that my dream location would be a cabin in the mountains with alot of peace and quiet, about 30 minutes from town. I dont want to live somewhere where there are "snobby hippies" We need a garage as DP does woodworking. Ok well I guess thats enough for now.

Darkstar - Are you planning on renting or buying?
Anyway, if you like living in a town but not neccesarily in boulder, you might check out Nederland, which is about 30 min outside of boulder. There are quite few house in between Boulder and Nederland, too. If you want somethig a little closer to town but still near lots of hiking trails, try south boulder or Eldorado canyon. We just moved from South Boulder to North Boulder and I so miss it. I'm ready to move back.

Good Luck and Happy Moving! PM me if you need any help, my hubby is a Boulder local (since he was 4yo) and I'm a Colorado native.

And watch out for the yuppies (ok so i'm kind of a yuppie, but hippie at heart), they're everywhere!

Hi I have lived in Boulder for 12 years and we started out in Gunbarrel. It's a nice little community that is a little cheaper than downtown and I believe the massage school is out there.

Now we live in Louisville and I love it! My children are older, and they have great friends, great school and we are ten minutes from downtown boulder. Right on the bus line. Let me know if you have any other questions. Boulder is home and we are Never leaving, if I have anything to say about it!
We are renting. I wish buying but...What about Jamestown> I just got an email about a cabin there, for cheap. Tell me about it. Yes I havent really been around much instead of brightly shining these days, I am fading out. Working too much etc.

I love Jamestown! It is definitely a mountain town (about 30 min outside of boulder), but it's so pretty and the people up there seem really friendly and helpful. They have a great bluegrass open stage at one (or the only) pub up there. I always joke with dh that we should move up there but he's not so into the mountain living.

Oh and I was driving up Lee Hill road yesterday and I saw a house up there for rent too. You might check the Boulder Daily Camera (bouldernews.com).

Will you be working when you move here?

I am not sure about workking. I am going to school full time(or planning in this) so I am not sure there is time for me to work. I thought I would just run up the student loans. DP will be doing woodworking, we are trying to open a natural wood toy and rustic furniture business. i am a bit stressed out about where the $$ will come from but, I think that when we move I will have about 6 months of rent saved, so that is a big stress reliever. I think that driving around is one of the best ways to find a house. Thanks rubysmomjess.
