So excited to tell you all that we're putting an offer on a house in Durham!!! It's in Lake Park near Southpointe Mall. It's off of Fayetteville closer to 751.

Anyone have details about that 'hood? Fortunately, I don't need to be convinced about durham in general.
I would love to hear about that area specifically or know that some of you Durham mamas will visit with me.

We'd be super close to DHs workplace and have more outside space to putter around garden style.

Is Southpoint that new mall? I grew up in Durham but I'm completely map illiterate so I can't figure out where you are talking about, lol.

We're in the process of looking for a home between there and Raliegh... it's so hard to choose!
yes, it is the new mall.
Okay, dunno about the particular neighborhood of which you speak, but I do know that area. We lived in apartments in Woodlake (another subdivision out there) when we first got married for 2 years. The traffic sucks majorly out there, BUT....it is a nice area. The American Tobacco Trail runs through there, which I spend a LOT of time on during the warm months. It's quite suburban, but it is really nice. And I gotta say, Southpoint mall rocks.
Hey Gunter,
I used to live in Woodcroft. I loved it, but there wasn't enough land for us, so we moved to North Durham, near the Eno River State Park.
I really enjoyed living near Southpoint. It is a great place to go, complete with an fantastic indoor playground for rainy days. Also, there are really nice playgrounds for the kiddos outdoors at Woodcroft and Wood Lake (just across Fayetteville Rd.) I don't know if you have a dog,
:
: but there is an AWESOME dog park, on Woodcroft Pkwy. We used to be regulars there. I don't know Lake Park, but where you are moving is a fantastic location, very accessible to 40, to UNC, and to Duke.

Congratulations on your purchase and good luck.
I'd love to meet up sometime when I have some free time.
Maybe you could come check out our AP group on the 4th Friday of the month at the Chapel Hill Bible Church at 10am. (disclaimer we are just using the church, but there isn't anything religious about our group).

Anyway, Good Luck and Enjoy!
I hope the move goes smoothly.

Hey there neighbor!!
I am in North Durham, near Eno too. We live off Sparger. Where are you? I would love to check out that group some time, I had no idea such a thing existed up here.

Hey Finch!
Yea, It is a great group. The AP group has playgroups on Mondays at Umstead park in CH, which is a bit of a hike, and then the meeting I was mentioning above. We're always looking to meet other like minded momma's.
So, the house is less than a mile from an entry point on the Am. Tobacco Trail. Woo hoo! We'll have to meet up at my new place and walk it together, for sure!

We have a huge dog and do enjoy a good dog park. He's a super friendly 3 yr. old Rottie. He likes to play with other dogs a lot.

I would definately want to come to the API group. DH and I have been involved in the Cary API group since we were preggo.

I'll want to come to LLL, too. I go to the one in Cary right now and will be kinda sad to leave those lovely people! But am sure Durham has a lot to offer.

We'll make an offer this afternoon, around 4:30pm. Keep your fingers crossed that the sellers will accept it. THe only thing we are asking them to do it remove the satellite dish from the roof. Hee hee
Hey Gunter,
I don't have much info on the Durham LLL groups, but the Chapel Hill PM group meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7-8:30 at the Women's Birth and Wellness Center (actually TOMORROW NIGHT!) and, the toddler group (newly formed) meets the 3rd Friday of the month at 10am in Hillsboro at the Church of the Nazarene. It has been really nice to meet other moms of nursing toddlers.

I don't know if I will make the meeting tomorrow night but OH, there is a great FREE family festival this weekend...
La Leche League's Rock the Baby event. It is from 4-6 pm at the Carrboro Town Commons. There will be music, food, and fun. There is also a great silent auction. Check out www.chapelhilll.org for mor info!
Hope to see you there!

The sellers accepted our offer today!

We're moving to Durham in about a month, mamas! Let's get excited. Woo hoo!
Yay! Congrats!!!
Congrats! Welcome to Durham!
So, we close on the house in one week! Yay!

We're going to paint and move in slowly as our house has not sold, yet. Anyone want to move to a kid friendly 'hood in suburban Apex? PLMK, I know of a house for sale.

I am sooo excited about Durahm. It just sounds like so many great things are happening there that DH and I want to join. The only dowside is I will still drive to Raleigh for the rest of the year. The project that I am working on should be over by December though. Dh will be abour 3 miles from work and he goes there every weekday while I only go to Raleigh one or two days a week.

Would you please tell me more about why you all like Durham and places I need to know about.

Hmm... got a linkie to the house for sale?
pming you to avoid spam like content on MDC
So, I am the thankful new owner of a solar house in Durham!!! Woo hoo!!!

We are painting the inside first and moving in over the next week or so. My house is still for sale and we haven't even had one offer, yet. Hopefully soon though.

I will have to host a playgroup soon. We have a large semi-wooded back yard. Strawberries and lavender are growing already!

We would like to begin hosting a vegetarin pot luck once a month. Any triangle vegetarian families want to join that? I will post a seperate thread when I have a date in mind.
