We're moving this month to Millard, in Omaha, and I'm having a hard time finding after-school care for my 2nd grader. School starts in 6 weeks and I'm a little panicked. The two options we'd thought might work won't (ds's preschool won't pick up from dd's elementary school; the elementary school's after-care waiting list is a year long.)

Any ideas? This is my first f/t job, so although I've had childcare I've never done after school care. The ideal would be a trusted friend who could do it, but we know *no one* in Nebraska, aside from work aquaintences, none of whom live in Millard.

I'd appreciate any and all suggestions - if you know someone in Millard who does childcare, if you can think of some search strategies that might be fruitful, anything. (I'm considering finding the number of the PTA president and calling her, which seems... bold. But I'm desperate!)

Wish I could help you, hun. We live at Offutt AFB, only a few minutes from Millard but I'm not sure of any daycare providers out that way. I hope you find someone soon.

Thanks, guys. It's starting to come together, I think - I've got a few calls in. I'm a person who likes to have things lined up a year in advance, yk? And childcare doesn't usually work that way.

We're stressed here, and I'm just bouncing around from one thing to the next, deciding what to be stressed about at the moment. Moving is fun!

My sister uses an in-home care center that's up near 156th and Maple. Are you guys anywhere near there? I'd be happy to pass that information on to you if you're interested.
