Erin,
I live in Charlotte. What part of this area are you looking at? It's been an odd place for me. I've lived here for three years and don't really know many people. I'm defintely considered "strange" at my work place because I ap, I'm liberal and I didn't change my last name
On the other hand, it's a nice small city, and the prices are great.

I've disappeared from this site for awhile and returned thinking that I need to make an effort to meet people and that this might be the place to do that.

I would recommend looking at Union Co. neighborhoods since the taxes are cheaper than living in Charlotte proper or Mecklenberg Co. BTW a Natural Mothering support group just started up this past month. We are meeting again on July 27th.

I second the suggestion to look into Union County.

Heather, I would love to hear more about the Natural Mothering support group. That sounds like my kind of group.

SO TRUE!!! We've been living here for 6 months and decided that this is it for us! We are not moving anywhere any more. We simply LOVE IT HERE! We live in Winston-Salem and I just saw a bord by a highway - that Winston-Salem is in 30 most livable cities in USA!!! It is SO TRUE!
We are just getting ready to buy a house and we can't believe the prices! AMAZING! And the houses - WOW! The neighbourhoods - they NEVER end! We go out every day with my DH and drive around the town and we are just speachless how beautiful this town is! He said he has travelled the whole US but he has never seen such beautiful town! It's great size, location, it's fantastic place to raise a family!
We can't wait to buy a house finally! We also LOVE the weather! It's so great! Warm, but not too much, mild winter, nice breeze.....LOVE IT LOVEIT LOVE IT!

Hallo! I know this is an older thread, considering how many pages back it is...but I thought I'd post anyway. I'm in Concord, I think prices here are relatively reasonable, and it's still smaller than Charlotte, lol...(dun like large cities..icky air...) We have a bus system that travels to Kannapolis and various places in Concord, and even transfers to Charlotte. My mom works in Charlotte (at Carolinas Medical Center...) and lives here, too.

Anyone else near me? I dont' have a car, so Charlotte isn't really an option for me, since it would take two hours one way
