Moving to Pearland, TX

We are moving to Pearland in a few weeks. We aren't moving far, since we are in Houston right now (Meyerland area) but I'm looking for like-minded mommy's, playgroups, anything in the area.

Any crunchy moms down in Pearland? Any playgroups? I have a three year old and a 16 month old, and I would love to meet some moms with kids in the neighborhood. This is my first move out into the suburbs and I feel like we are moving soooo far away!

For example, I just saw that the library is closed down for Ike repairs, and my first thought was 'THE' library? As in only ONE library. I guess I'm definitely moving to the small town! (That was really disappointing, since we love the library, but I digress....)

Anyways, I'd love to hear from any Pearland mamas!

Depending on what part of Pearland you are moving to--288 area/Silverlake, or the Friendswood side--there are other libraries you could go to in the meantime. Like storytime at the Friendswood Library. Or at one of the big bookstores (Barnes & Noble, or Borders).

We used to live in Pearland, so I know there are like-minded mommas down there. Give 'em a few hours, I'm sure they'll pop onto the thread with links for you.

GL with the move!

You should check out the "Peaceful Beginnings" group on www.meetup.com, we have mom's all over the southeast houston area including Pearland, Friendswood, ClearLake, League City.

Thanks, Lydia! You already saw that I followed your advice and I'm so glad you shared this.

I can't find the new beggings meetup group but I'm very interested in joining myself. I'm new to the area of Pearland, we're in Silverlake and I'm finding it a little difficult to find a playgroup. I have a 3.5 yr old and a 15 mo old. So far the groups I have found are fee based and need to meet you in person to approve your acceptance into the group. Yikes sounds a little sorority-ish

We moved here from in the loop as well and would love to find some nice easy going moms in the area.
