Oh no!!!

Connor had staph in late August, thankfully it wasn't MRSA, and it was killed pretty easily. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this!!!

It's my 4 y o. On his leg. An ant bite turned to cellulitis which looks like it is MRSA. It's getting better. Sort of, but not really going away. And it means we're back on antibiotics which means that the lovely c diff is not that far away.

Even if he carries c. diff I think you might be able to keep it under control with one of the big gun probiotics.
I'm sure you already know but florastor is good with c. diff and antibiotics don't kill it. I dose it with every dose of Andrew's antibiotics when he needs them. Culturelle is good too though you know you have to do it a few hours after every dose. Nicole on here had good success holding C. diff back with VSL#3 and it's got a great reputation for c. diff control.
I know you know all that.

Trade one thing for another. That totally sucks! I hope you guys can get rid of the MRSA without bringing on c-diff. The only time we've battled MRSA was in the form of a very severe case of pneumonia in my 2yr old when she was 4.5mos old. She was treated with Vancomycin and c-diff wasn't an issue for us. I've never dealt with it in an open wound but I know that's far more common. I wish you guys luck!

Oh, that sucks. We've been fighting that battle with my grandma. She fell and cut her leg, wound got infected with MRSA, and then c diff took over the world. And happy happy day - my whole family is almost certainly colonized now. I get nauseous just thinking about this winter's bronchitis/pneumonia fest. DP and youngest DS both have asthma and usually need broad spec abx at least once a year.

I'm hoping things go better than you expect and that things get better in a hurry.

Winter pneumonia fest...fun stuff!

MRSA in the lungs bites.

J had staph in his kidneys at 4 months old, but it wasn't MRSA. That put him on the no antibiotics anymore even if he does have kidney reflux train.

I have to be careful about giving him too much probiotics b/c he seems to get sicker. I know, weird. We have to just treat him IF the c. diff. comes back. Then we've had really good luck with VSL#3 killing c. diff.

I don't konw if my whole family is colonized, but I certainly am, and none too happy about it I might add.

Spot is smaller, but not gone. It seems to hurt less though...so that's good. Ugh.

He has some other spots as well...but they look like they are healing themselves instead of getting worse. One is by his eye, so I can't treat it except for the oral abx.
