I'm looking for names of artists or names of CDs that are all instrumental. I'd like something light and airy sounding . . . as if I were hanging out at a ritzy day spa being pampered. Not looking for piano or classical as I have plenty of that already. I'm thinking something New Age. Something soothing and calming for while I'm laboring.

Any suggestions?

I highly suggest Music To Be Born By. It is gentle drumming layered over a recording of a fetal heartbeat. It is by Micky Hart and it is his baby's heart. I listened to it with two of my labors and found it very soothing. Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful birth!

Robyn mam to Raven 6 1/2, Dakota 4, and Zebulon 5 weeks!
Breastfeedin', co-sleepin', non-vaxed, and lovin' it!

I would recommend any of the Cirque du Soleil soundtracks. My favorite one is Saltimbanco, and I thought I would listen to it while birthing but I just wanted quiet around me. Strange... and I love music all the time...

Any of the Liquid Mind CDs are very soothing, also you might like the CD called Golden Bowls (they also have Bowls of Compassion and Ocean Bowls) - they are recordings of tibetan bowls being played. Not a melody, but more tones with lots of space. I use it with some of my clients (bodywork) and it can really take you to an altered place. You can find them at www.karmamoffett.com. I also like Hilary Stagg's CDs - they are new agey harp music.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I went to the mall today and had no luck finding any of the ones suggested, but did find a very nice nature CD and another spirtual healing CD. Both are non-lyrical and very soothing. Now my birth bag is officially done. Bring on the labor!!
