It is very warm to the touch, bright red and for about a week now it looks like the skin is splitting and peeling around her mouth. It itches, and she will cry and say "owie" after she eats solid food no matter what the food may be. I have tried a few topical things like coconut oil, different creams, tea tree oil etc. The only thing that seems to give her relief is coconut oil. Her mouth looks a lot better in the morning until she eats anything solid.

We suspected food allergies and did an elimination diet for a couple months but I could never pin point anything. She still nurses every couple hours day and night and my nipples burn like heck, but I am pregnant so that could be why. She also gets these weird diaper rashes that come and go through out the day.

I am starting to think this is yeast? Any ideas?

TIA

It sounds like it could be allergies. DD gets a rash around her mouth/on her face and hands when she eats anything creamy with preservatives. (Ranch dressing, crackers with cheese filling, cupcake/twinkie/snack cake filling, etc.)

I would suspect allergies/intolerances, but in case I'm wrong, maybe some other mamas have some ideas.

Yes, it sounds very much like yeast to me. The red rash on her mouth and bottom, and your burning nipples too could all be signs of yeast infection. I would definitely add lots of live cultured foods, like yogurt, into both of your diets. You might want to limit the amount of sweets you eat too. I know there are other things you can do to help clear up yeast naturally, but I can't remember them right now. I'm sure some of the other mamas will chime in here. Good luck!

I would say food allergies/intolerances. My DS gets a rash around his mouth from soy. DD gets it from cinnamon. And the diaper rash to go along with it sounds like it's part of it. What kind of elimination did you do? My DS usually gets the mouth rash within an hour, so his was pretty easy to figure out. And if it's all the time, it's probably something she's eating every day.
