I should probably introduce myself first. My name is Kellie and I am a mommy to two BEAUTIFUL girls who are the light of my life. I have always planned to let my children self-wean. From what I heard from other extended breastfeeders, I expected my dd to bf for at least 3 years. I have been tandem nursing for almost 6 months, but now I'm back to just one nursling. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mecry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="crying"><br><br>
It's so bittersweet. I am happy that she self-weaned and that it was so easy on both of us, but it's sad to know that a chapter in her life is over. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> The wonderful part is that she has been incredibly cuddly when going to bed at night since she weaned (she used to nurse to sleep). She even lets dh put her to bed now. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> But last night I cried the whole time he was in the bedroom putting her to sleep. That used to be something only mommy could do and now she doesn't need me for that. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mecry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="crying"><br><br>
I just never thought this would be such an emotional experience. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

Congratulations on nursing for two and a half years! You rock for nursing Jessa 'til now, being so gentle and meeting her needs when you were TTC and pg (and that had to have been really hard at times knowing how ill you were), and for continuing to nurse her once her sister arrived. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"><br><br>
