my 24 urine experience

I am posting this here just to reassure other women so that they don't have a sleepless night like me.

I started my collection at 11AM yesterday morning and as of this morning my jug was completely full!!! I laid in bed all last night fretting that something must be wrong with me because I was going to fill the jug before 24 hrs was up. I figured that there was no way they would give me a vessel that I could possibly fill. I called my lab when I got up this morning and asked them what I should do. The woman assured me that I was not the first one to do that and that there is a wide range of amts that they see. She said that some people come in with hardly any and some come in with 2 jugs. So, she suggested I come down and get another jug which I did. She said that many people know they have a high output and will ask for 2 jugs at the beginning (I will be doing this if I am ever given the privilege again
).

Right now, I don't know for sure that nothing is wrong with me, but I do know that filling the jug plus some more is not abnormal in and of itself. I know this is a pretty mundane topic, but I hope that it keeps someone else who is a worrywart like me from losing sleep.

A lab once lost my 24-hour jug the first time and then screwed it up the second time. Since dropping it off entailed a cross-town bus trip (looooong ride through smog in the summer), I was none too happy.

The third time, I overloaded on asparagus. I ate TONS of asparagus. I think we bought five-six pounds.

They didn't lose THAT sample.

just out of curiousity...why would they request that you do this? I mean, what are they looking for?
I was doing 24h urines so frequently that I would just pick up a bunch of buckets when I dropped them off. One time I ran out and had filled my solo bucket, so I wound up peeing into a tupperware!

Ah, the joys of heading to my weekly MW appts with my toddler, my big belly, and buckets of urine in tow

My bp went up at the end of my last pregnancy and I had to do it and they found that I had some protein, but not alot in my urine. My new dr wants to do it now just to have something to compare it to if we have to do it later. My bp hasn't been stellar this pregnancy, but it hasn't been bad either, so I guess that is why.
