My 6 yr old is constantly sick

There's nothing seriously wrong with him, he just gets every freaking virus possible. He's sick at least one week a month. He has a good diet and takes vitamins and immune boosting herbs. By good diet, I mean he eats all kinds of foods, including fruits & veggies & prefers actual food to junk food. I do let him have fast food & processed snacks, but I'm cutting that out as it's the only other thing I know to do. He's had pneumonia repeatedly, gets a croupy cough periodically, still gets ear infections about 4 times a year, and is generally plagued by the mysterious 4-6 day stomach bug with fever really frequently. He's such a great kid, it just breaks my heart that he's sick so much. He's out of school & stays home with me 2 days and goes to a small private school for summer camp 3 days a week. There are 9 kids in the summer camp, so it's not like he is exposed to TONS of kids. Tell me something else to do if you have any tips. Thanks!!!

I dont think eating processed foods on occassion is the problem. It sounds like your son has allergies, could have adnoid and tonsil problems too. The stomach bug could actually be his sinus' draining down his throat, fever from infected tonsils, etc. The ear infections and croup cough are clear signs of this, not to mention that he is getting the chest like symptoms too. My son just had a T&A done and he is like a new child. A child that constantly had the problems your child is having, have almost entirely disappeared. We also found out some of his allergies, and have taken measures in our home to minimize or eliminate them.
Right now I have talked to so many parents who have been in similar positions with their children -- they have tried everything, most of them are SAHM, and finally when going to an ENT, they discover what the problems are. I know that the little boy next door to me who had his T&A last summer after school was over is like a new child. He was rarely sick this past year, even though for as long as I knew him seemed to be chronicly ill with something.
I just want to also say I tried alternative, homeopathic ways to help my son, but all failed, at times to his detriment.
There is a time and a place for conventional medical care.

I second everything that OTF said. My ds had a T&A and it made all the difference in the world. See if you can't find a good ENT and/or allergist.
